Knocking on Natalia's front door startled the three girls, as Natalia and Maya rushed to hide - in the stairwell to eavesdrop - but Clem and Joe didn't need to know that.
Joe nervously swallowed as Clem opened the door, her smiling face fading to one of confusion as she took in the way he was standing. He had his legs weirdly spread apart and his hands behind his back, lips pursed into a straight line.
Her look of confusion quickly dropped, returning to a beaming smile after he pulled his arms from behind his back, revealing a beautiful bouquet of hydrangeas - which he learned to be Clem's favorite flower after watching a few recorded re-runs of Ladies' Man with Dacre.
"Joe!" She giggled, "how did you know hydrangeas were my favorite?"
"Did I mention I'm a Ladies Man fan?" He winked. "This one girl on there, Clem, is hot as hell."
She laughed and invited him into the house. He'd been to Natalia's house tons of times before - but it felt more special when Clem was welcoming him into it. He imagined what it might be like to have her welcome him home at his own front door - at their own front door.
Joe was moving too fast for his own liking — he knew that well.
She put the flowers in a vase, filling it with water, and Joe grabbed her attention to snap a quick pic. He grabbed her hand as they stepped out the front door and into the lawn. He led her to the car, opening her side of the car door and before shutting her in, tied a little blue tie around her eyes so she couldn't see where they were going.
