Clementine let a lone tear fall as she looked Russell in the eyes, barely containing her excitement. He'd brought her to a beautiful beach scene with a private dock, a dinner for two set up with white wine (not Clem's favorite, but she'd take it) and a bouquet of white roses. This was the day she'd been waiting for over the past ten weeks: Russell was going to propose.
"Clem," the cameras zoomed in as Russell took the short girls' hands in his, rubbing his thumbs over the tops of her hands.
The world was watching on the edge of their seats, shoving fistfuls of popcorn into their mouths and finishing off the last bottle of wine as they watched the scene unfold.
Joe, Natalia, Dacre, and Maya huddled around the screen. Even though filming for Stranger Things 4 wrapped up months ago, the crew often took turns hanging out and having sleepovers at each house in LA during their break. Basically all of them were out of work currently, besides Maya filming a new Netflix Original and Joseph Quinn was taking the world by storm as Eddie Munson, interviews and news channels alike urgently contacting him for press. Joe shushed his friends as Russell began speaking to Clementine.
"These last few weeks have been a dream with you, Clementine Anderson. Your optimism, gentle spirit, and kindness throughout this entire season is so appreciated. You have such a calming aura about you, you can brighten a room just by walking in it, and you give the best hugs. There is nothing more I want for you than purely the best." Russell spoke elegantly, eyes flickering from Clem's eyes, to her lips, to her eyes again.
"And I am so sorry that it has to end here. I wish there was something I could do to give us more time, I do. But our chapter closes here, Clem." Russell ripped the bandaid off quickly, further searching her eyes for some sort of answer or reaction, but there was none.
Viewers at home were simply stunned, Team Clementiners blowing their noses and wiping their tears, while Team Sydneyers celebrated proudly. The Stranger Things crew was silent as their jaws hung wide.
"Is this... fate?" Dacre whispered to the group.
"Thank you, Russell. I wish nothing but the best for you and Sydney, thank you so much for this experience of a lifetime. This journey has meant so much to me, and I feel like if nothing else, I've made a ton of friends out of this. So again, congratulations and thank you." Clementine spoke gracefully, with her head held high as she nodded at the man in front of her. She wasn't mad at Russell, he couldn't help who his heart loved. It wasn't like he intentionally hurt Clem - he just simply loved someone else. Of course Clem was upset, and hurt, as any dumped girl would be. But truth be told, she kind of took it like a champ.
"Say your goodbyes, and let's go grab your things." Chris Harrison, the host of Ladies' Man spoke up from behind the two. Clem nodded, giving Russell a hug and a peck on the cheek, linking her arm in Chris's as she walked away with her head held high and a smile on her face.
Leaving fans angry and confused - angry as to why she wasn't angry, confused as to why she was so understanding, and frustrated at the lack of drama.
But little did she know - that Clem's grace, class, and compassion was about to land her in a world of love, laughs, and 80s music.
