Clem wiped her tears as the crowd clapped and roared as the last episode of volume two ended, credits rolling. She looked at Joseph Quinn and smiled, standing to give him a big hug. "Eddie deserved better," she whispered in his ear and he planted a kiss on her cheek, the English way, while the two giggled, pulling away.
The rest of the night was filled with dessert, drinking, dancing, selfies, and lots of laughing. Clementine had a fair share of drinks from the bar, losing count at this point.
"Easy, hot stuff. I don't want to have to go dragging you home," Joe smiled, taking her half drank glass of vodka-cran and throwing it back. She rolled her eyes and giggled.
"Says the same boy who was stripping after one beer?" She questioned, tugging on his shirt, which was now being held together by one button. The pair was dancing, in their own little world, with Joe spinning around Clem like a princess. Joe's heart might've stopped as he noticed a familiar tall, muscular frame and a short black-haired girl in the distance. Looking at Clem, who had noticed the other pair, too. She smiled gently as the tall boy and black-haired girl walked over to the couple that was now standing still.
"Hi, sweet Clem," the tall boy towered over Joe, making him tighten his grip on his cocktail at the sound of him calling her "sweet Clem."
"Hi Russell!" she slipped from Joe's grip so easily and jumped into the man's arms, who spun her around. Joe couldn't help it, but his face flushed red. He wasn't necessarily jealous, but - he was. Seeing his Clementine with a man she was mere days away from possibly being engaged to stirred up some feelings within him he didn't think he was capable of.
Not only that, but having watched the whole season of Ladies' Man, just to get to know Clementine more, and having watched Clementine go on dates with Russell, kiss Russell, and go all the way with Russell - it really bothered to see them together again. Joe started thinking about the recency of the events, too, and it made him feel like a total rebound.
"What the heck are y'all doing here?" Clem asked after she'd been put down.
"Ross and Matt are my cousins! They invited us to come!" Syd grinned cheerfully, eyeing Joe. "I loved your work!" She added eagerly.
"Let me see that riiing, girl!" Clem tipsily squealed, the girls chatting over her ring for a moment. Smaller than she thought it'd be, considering Russell is a multimillionaire.
"Well, this is Joe! My uh - boyfriend." She hesitated, causing Joe to immediately have a mini-panic episode.
"Nice to meet you, Joe," Russell grabbed the man's hand and shook it aggressively.
"So good to meet you. Oh! Clem, Jamie and Joseph wanted to get some pictures together, all of us, before they leave. Maybe we could get together another time and all chat?" Joe suggested. It was a total downright lie and an empty gesture, but anything to get away from Russell in this moment.
"Yeah! We'll chat, Syd?" Clem asked and the girl nodded.
"Didn't you guys want to take pictures?" He grabbed Joe Quinn, giving him a help-me-please look, and the man nodded.
They snapped some pictures and Joe and Clem decided to leave - Clem was tired and Joe's social battery was drained after the conversation with Russell. The couple caught an Uber back to Joe's house, saying absolutely nothing in the car ride home. There was a thick, awkward air in the car which Clem mistook as a comfortable silence. But in fact, there was nothing either could say to make the situation better.
