I woke up the next morning with a phone call. I didn't recognize the number so I ignored it and rolled over. The day was cloudy and gloomy. I found myself thinking I was so glad I didn't have anything planned today. I did however remember that Bridge had a gig tonight at a bar.
I get up and make my way to the bathroom trying to wake up fully. I decided to take a shower. I start up the water and get a towel out of my cabinet and then I look in the mirror for a minute. I see how rested I look. I instantly regret not making Bridge stay. I miss him being around me. It was nice to know he doesn't want to rush this and make it a fling. He wants this to be real and deep.
As I step into the shower I run through our date. I really enjoyed the simpleness of it all but how much fun I had to just be with him. He sang the songs we danced to in my ear. From Garth Brooks to The Eagles. He has this way of running his fingertips along my skin that gives me chills and thrills me all at the same time. I need and crave that touch. I want him here now. I made a decision to invite him over for the day.
I scrub my hair and wash my body and then just stand in the warm water for a minute. Something about just feeling the warm water that makes me feel recharged. I turn off the water and make my way to my bedroom. Grabbing a pair of underwear and a large white shirt. Pulling my hair back I hear Aaron making breakfast. I twist my hair into a bun on top of my head and walk out to join her.
She is sitting at the bar in a cotton dress eating toast and eggs. She raises a cup of coffee to her lips when she spots me. I give her a big smile and she gives one back. She watches me walk all the way to the coffee pot and pour a cup. I scoop out a plate of eggs. I place two pieces of toast into the toaster and push it down. I turn and she is still looking at me with a huge smile.
" What?" I ask her . She just giggles and then takes a bite of her eggs.
" Oh nothing. I guess." she answers
" Okay." I say knowing she was not happy with that answer. I turn and butter my toast
" Come on Ronnie, I am dying here." she says loudly " I need to know. Where did you go? Did you sleep together again? I know he isn't here. No boots by the door but come on what happened?"
" Oh so there is something?" I ask. She gives me the stink eye. " He took my dancing at the pier in Jaxson."
" Oh that's so cute." she swoons
" It really was nice. We danced, ate pizza and he asked me what I wanted between us." I tell her
" Really? What did you say?" she asks
" We both want the same thing. A relationship." I told her while taking a bite of my eggs. " I think I might have him over today."
" Okay so you're going to be MIA for a bite now right?" she asks
" Yes and no, I don't want to be that girl. My boyfriend will not be my whole life and nothing else matters. I still have a huge career and want to hang with you. But he might be here at night more." I tell her hoping she doesn't hate me.
" Okay I get that so when you forget me I get to slap you?" she asks me
" I can't forget you, you're too loud." I tell her jokingly
" Ha Ha, so funny." She stands and walks to the sink. " I am happy for you. Just I want you to not lose yourself okay?"
" I promise," I say " and thank you. I love you too."
When she left for work I checked my schedule to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. I was right, nothing scheduled for today. I hear my phone go off again and it's that phone number again. So I answer it.
