[That's what Ash looks like.]
I woke up the next morning in my bed. Ash walked in and sat on my bed, this felt familiar. "How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Well it still kinda hurts," I replied.
"Ok, do you mind if I look?" he asked me. I nodded. He looked at the spot that I faceplanted on. "It looks good, just don't touch it." he said. I nodded.
"Oh, and today is your appointment." he added. I frowned at him. He smiled back at me, "It's just a check up." He walked out and closed the door behind him.
"Kayla, breakfast is ready!" I heard Noah yell from downstairs. I came downstairs and sat at the table. They had made pancakes, one of my favorites.
"So Kayla," Noah said. I ignored him and continued to eat my breakfast. "Please just look at me." he begged.
"No! I hate you!" I replied.
He sighed. "I just want the best for you." he said calmly.
I looked around the room, trying to avoid eye contact with him. I noticed a picture of our family when my parents were alive. I tried to hold back my tears but couldn't. Tears ran down my face.
All three of them stood up and rushed to me. "Kayla what's wrong?" they all said simultaneously.
"I miss them." I cried. Theo and Noah started to tear up too. They all hugged me.
"I miss them too," Theo said, "but you know what would cheer me up?"
"What?" I asked
"Some ice cream!" he suggested.
I smiled a bit. We all got in the car and went to get ice cream. When we got there we all went inside. I ordered birthday cake ice cream, Theo ordered lemon ice cream, Ash ordered chocolate fudge, and Noah ordered vanilla. We sat down and ate our ice cream.
After we finished we got back in the car. They stopped at the office that Noah and Ash worked at. I glared at them.
"Hey we got you ice cream, you better cooperate!" Noah said sternly.
Ash picked me up and carried me inside. When he set me down in a room, I went to a corner of the room and curled up into a ball.
"I promise none of this will hurt, Kayla." Ash pleaded. Just then, Noah walked into the room. He picked me up and put me in the chair. Ash got the stethoscope from around his neck.
"Can I listen to your heart?" he asked. I nodded. He put it on my chest and listened, then he moved it to a different spot. "Lay on your stomach." he said. I laid on my stomach and he put the stethoscope on my back.
"Ok, you can sit up now." he said. I sat up. He grabbed the otoscope. I immediately covered my ears.
"It wont hurt, I promise." he said. I uncovered my ears and he smiled. He put the otoscope in my ear. It felt really weird.
Next he put some weird thing around my arm. He looked at me, "I know you're not going to like this, please don't freak out. It'll be ok."
I looked at him worried. "It'll be ok," he repeated. I felt it squeezing my arm. I closed my eyes tight. Finally it stopped squeezing and Ash took it off.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?" he asked.
"Are we done?" I said.
"Sorry baby, were almost done." he replied.
He put something on my thumb and told me to wait. He looked at the numbers on the screen, and took it off.
"Lay down, sweetheart." he said. I laid down. He started feeling around my stomach, which made me uncomfortable.
Finally he said, "Ok we're all done now."
