#1 | THE DATE

Your heart nearly stopped when you saw who your date was. Of all the people in the world, it had to be Kenma Kozume—the very person you had known and despised for what felt like an eternity. Your history with Kenma was long and bitter. You lived just a few houses apart, which meant you had attended the same schools and inevitably crossed paths more often than you would have liked. Every morning, you'd see him on your way to school, and each encounter only deepened the animosity between you two.

It wasn't just that you disliked him—no, you both genuinely hated each other. That word, "hated," didn't even seem strong enough to capture the mutual disdain you shared. And as if fate wasn't cruel enough, you both had the same circle of friends, which meant he was always there, like a thorn in your side that you could never fully remove.

Standing there, your mind raced as you struggled to process the cruel irony of this situation. "Did you know it was me coming?" you finally asked, trying to mask the mix of shock and irritation in your voice.

Kenma didn't even bother to hide his sarcasm. "Do you think if I knew it was the one and only Y/n L/n coming, I would have bothered showing up?" His tone was dripping with disdain, and his eyes narrowed slightly as if the mere sight of you was an inconvenience.

You sighed audibly, the weight of the situation pressing down on you as you awkwardly lowered yourself into the chair across from him. The air between you was thick with unresolved tension, and you could already tell this was going to be a long, uncomfortable evening

Despite the unpleasant surprise of finding yourself on a blind date with Kenma, you decided to stick it out. After all, leaving now would only give him the satisfaction of thinking he'd gotten under your skin. The silence between you was thick and uncomfortable until you finally decided to break it. "Are you gonna order anything?" you asked, your eyes fixed on the blonde across from you.

Kenma looked at you with his usual indifferent expression. "I mean, yeah, what other option do I have? I can't leave—Kuroo would kill me." His response was so dry that you couldn't help but snort.

"Kuroo set you up to this?" you asked, laughter bubbling up. "Should've known. You're not exactly the type to willingly come to these things."

Just then, the waiter appeared with menus, and you both took a moment to browse through the options.

"I'll have the apple pie with some plain coffee," Kenma said, his voice as neutral as ever."I'll have the [dessert of choice] and [drink of choice]," you added with a polite smile, handing your menu back to the waiter.

The silence returned, more awkward than before. You knew it would be up to you to carry the conversation. "So, why did Kuroo make you come to this blind date?" you asked, trying to sound casual, though you were genuinely curious.

Kenma stayed silent for a moment, his gaze shifting away from you. Just when you thought he wasn't going to answer, he muttered, "I lost a bet."

You nearly burst out laughing at the thought, but you bit your tongue, remembering where you were. "What bet?" you pressed, intrigued.
