#3 | SHOUYOU'S PLACE

You and Rin had been buzzing with excitement about this hangout at Shouyou's apartment all week. It had been too long since you last saw him, and the thought of spending a relaxed evening with friends was exactly what you both needed. As you stood outside his door, waiting for him to answer, Rin couldn't keep still. She kept tugging at the ends of her long black hair, her fingers twirling the strands nervously.

"I haven't seen Shouyou in forever!" Rin blurted out, her usual composed demeanor giving way to uncharacteristic excitement. You couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm; it was so unlike her to be this jittery over a hangout, but you knew the reason why.

"Yeah, that's because you're always either working at that café or crashing at my place for no reason," you teased, nudging her playfully. Rin's cheeks flushed a light pink, her eyes darting to the ground as she mumbled something under her breath. You could see right through her; her mind was obviously on the ginger-haired boy who was just on the other side of the door.

Before you could tease her any further, the door swung open, and there stood Shouyou, beaming at both of you with his usual infectious smile. "Oh, hey Rin! Y/n! Come on in!" His voice was as warm and inviting as ever, making you feel at home the moment he spoke. He scratched the back of his head, his wavy ginger hair sticking up in a few places, giving him a slightly disheveled but endearing look.

As soon as you stepped inside the familiar apartment, the cozy atmosphere washed over you. The living room was filled with the scent of something sweet—probably some baked goods Shouyou had picked up earlier. You could hear the faint sounds of a video game coming from one of the rooms, likely Kiyoomi engrossed in some intense match. The furniture was a mismatched collection of hand-me-downs and thrifted finds, but it added to the charm of the place. The low, golden light from the lamps made everything feel warm and comfortable.

In the living room, Atsumu Miya was already lounging on the couch, his usual cheeky grin in place. "Hey, evil twin!" you called out as you walked over to him, high-fiving him with both hands.

"Hey, n/n!" Atsumu replied, his voice brimming with his trademark energy. He was always the life of the party, his presence impossible to ignore.

"Koutarouu!" you greeted Bokuto, who responded with a booming laugh and a hug that nearly knocked the wind out of you.

As you glanced around the room, something felt off. Someone was missing. "Where's Kiyoomi?" you asked, your curiosity getting the better of you.

"He's probably sleeping in his room," Atsumu replied with a casual shrug, as if that was the most natural thing in the world for Kiyoomi to be doing at this hour.

Satisfied with the answer, you flopped down on the couch next to Atsumu, sinking into the soft cushions. "Is anyone else coming tonight?" you asked, trying to gauge just how packed this little get-together was going to be.

"Some of Shouyou's friends, but he didn't say who," Atsumu responded with a nonchalant wave of his hand. You nodded, not thinking much of it as you settled into a light-hearted conversation with Atsumu and Bokuto about the latest volleyball match, random gossip, and whether or not Atsumu was still single.

The doorbell rang again, but you were too engrossed in a story Atsumu was telling to pay attention. It wasn't until you heard familiar voices approaching that your heart sank. You looked up and saw the unmistakable figure of Kenma Kozume walk through the door, his usual neutral expression in place. Kuroo Tetsurou was with him, of course, grinning like the cat who got the cream. You felt your breath hitch slightly, a familiar knot forming in your stomach. Why did it have to be him?
