#12 | APARTMENT HUNTING AFTERMATH
It had been a long day, but a productive one. You and Rin had spent the better part of the morning and afternoon scouring the city for an apartment that would be perfect for the both of you. It was an exhausting process, but somehow, you managed to find a place that felt like it was meant to be. By 7 PM, the two of you were back at Rin's apartment, which was conveniently close to the area you had been searching in. The sky outside was painted with the colors of twilight, the soft purples and pinks casting a calming hue over the city.
The moment you stepped inside, you kicked off your shoes and immediately flopped onto Rin's couch, letting out a long, exaggerated sigh. "I'm so tired. Why did we get up so early for this?" you groaned, throwing an arm over your eyes dramatically.
"Ten AM is not that early," Rin replied, rolling her eyes as she followed suit and slipped off her shoes. She didn't have your same dramatic flair, but you could tell she was just as worn out.
"It is for me," you countered, shifting slightly to make room for her on the couch. "Most normal people might say ten AM isn't early, but for someone who usually wakes up at one PM, it's basically the crack of dawn."
Rin chuckled as she plopped down beside you, her long hair still slightly tousled from the day's activities. "Okay, maybe for you, it is. But still, we found the perfect place, so it was worth it."
You nodded, smiling at the thought. "You know, it's kind of amazing how fast we found an apartment that's just... right. It's like it was made for us."
"And it's not expensive either," Rin added, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "We really lucked out."
You raised an eyebrow at her, unable to resist a playful jab. "Rin, you're rich enough to buy the whole building if you wanted to. You trade stocks like it's a hobby, and you still work at that café 'for fun.' Why do you even care about how cheap it is?"
Rin grinned, tossing her hair over her shoulder with mock arrogance. "I'm saving to retire early," she said with a wink.
"Yeah, sure," you said, rolling your eyes in return. "But after you and Shouyou end up together, you'll basically be one of the richest couples ever. So I'm not sure why you're worried."
Rin's cheeks flushed a light pink at the mention of Hinata, but she quickly shot back, "Forget about me and Shouyou. What about you and Kenma?"
At the mention of Kenma, your heart did an involuntary flip. You tried to keep your expression neutral, but you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks. "What about him?" you said, trying to sound as uninterested as possible. Deep down, though, just hearing his name was enough to send your mind into a spiral of thoughts and emotions that you didn't want to admit to yourself, let alone to Rin.
Rin wasn't fooled by your feigned indifference. She scooted closer to you on the couch, her eyes sparkling with that mischievous glint you'd come to know all too well. "Do you see yourself around him?" she asked, her voice teasing but with a hint of genuine curiosity. "Plus, he's like, crazy rich, but also super humble. He's not one of those snobby rich kids. You two would have some seriously cute kids together—"
"Stop!" you cut her off, tossing a pillow at her before she could finish her sentence. Your face burned with embarrassment, and you quickly covered it with your hands. You could handle a lot of Rin's teasing, but when it came to Kenma, there was something that made you feel completely vulnerable.
Rin dodged the pillow easily, her laugh filling the room. "Oh come on, Y/n! You know I'm right!" she teased, though she softened her tone when she saw how flustered you were. "Okay, okay, I'll stop talking about kids. But seriously, you should talk to Kenma about the kiss. Just get it out in the open, say it was a mistake if that's how you feel, and then you two can move on. Or maybe... you could end it with another kiss—"
