Chapter 11

I start to feel dizzy again, this time it's worse than earlier. I clutch my head tightly. I feel blood slowly dripping down my nose. "Ack!" I groaned in pain. I fall on my knees. My body falls to the side. Then my surroundings turns dark.

Y/N P.O.V

I slowly open my eyes and realize I'm inside a room. I try to sit up and let out a groan of pain, when I feel my head hurting. I clutch onto my head tightly.

"Oi, are you okay?" Someone said. I remove my hand and turn my head to see it's a brunette boy. I didn't say a thing and force myself to stand up. He panics at my action.

"Hey, you're not well yet!" He said, trying to get me to lay back down. He gently places a hand on my shoulder. But I swat it away. "Don't. Touch. Me!" I spat. He lift his hands in a surrender manner.

"Please... I mean no harm. You need to rest" he said. I fall on my knees as my head starts hurting again. I place my hands on my hair, clutching onto it. "J-Just hang in there! I-I'll go and g-get Senku!" He said. He turns around and heads out.

The boy comes back with Senku. "You're an idiot. If your body are so weak. Why would you even try to move? That's so illogical of you" Senku said. I just look away from him. He walks over to me and gently places his hand on my shoulder. I swat his hand away. He let out a sigh, I can sense annoyance in him.

"Don't be stubborn! We just want to help!" He said. Despite the pain in my head, I try to read his mind. He's telling the truth. I let out a sigh and slowly nod my head. He place his hand on my shoulder. He help me move to a laying position.

He pulls the blanket up to my chest. "You already know my name. So I don't need to introduce myself again. Gen called you Y/N. That's your name, right?" He said. I just nod my head. He hums and nods. He points at the boy sitting next to him.

"That's Chrome..." he said. I turn to look at the boy next to him. He just give me a smile. I just look away from them. I can't believe I got sick in the middle of the Kingdom of Science.

"Here" Chrome said. I turn my head to see him hold out a glass of water. "I'm not drinking that..." I said. "Why? You think we put something in it?" He said. I just give him a stare. He let out a sigh and take a big gulp.

"See? It's safe" he said, opening his mouth. He holds out the glass again. "You need to stay hydrated with that condition of yours" Senku added. I let out a sigh and take the glass from Chrome. I take a slow sip of the water.

"Why'd you bother helping me? Why didn't you take the chance to take me out while I was unconscious?" I asked. They turn to look at each other. Chrome just shrugs his shoulders as he looks at Senku. Senku let out a sigh and turn to look at me.

"I know you've been through a lot since you were a kid... but not all scientists are bad. I would never do experiments on human being. I'm trying to save all 7 billions people from the petrification. That's the only purpose I have..." he said. I just stare at him. I hear his thought, and knows that he's telling the truth.

I turn my head to look at the ceiling. I hear someone stepping up the ladder. A girl with blond hair enters the room, she's holding a small container.

"Oh, the girl's awake. My name's Kohaku..." she said. I just nod my head. She enters the shed and take a seat next to Chrome. "I got you some food..." she said, placing the tray on the floor. I can smell the familiar scent of ramen.

"Ramen?" I said. They nod their heads, while giving me a smile. Kohaku helps me sit up. She hands the container to me. "Here, a warm meal will strengthen your body..." she said. I just take it from her. I stare at them for a bit. If they want to kill me. They would have done it when I was out. But they're nursing me.

I let out a sigh and grab the chopstick. I take a bite and chew it slowly. I can taste its a little bitter. "It's a bit bitter... foxtail millet?" I said, turning to look at them.

"Yeah... how can you tell?" Senku asked. "After I ran away from that horrible place... I had to find a way to survive on my own. I came across foxtail millet and start to process it to food... the bitterness tastes just like this" I said, staring at the ramen in my hands. I turn to look at them and smile softly.

"Thank you..." I said. Their eyes widened, probably not expecting me to express any signs of gratitude. I just continue to eat and place the empty cup on the floor.

"All three of you remind me of the lovely couple that took me in... I was all on my own in the forest. I was slowly dying of starvation and exhaustion when a man found me. He took me with him... and brought me to his house where his wife was waiting by the table filled with warm meals. She was surprise to see me. But she welcomed me nonetheless. That night was the first night after such a long time. That night I finally felt what it feels like to have a loving family" I said. I can feel my tears streams down my cheeks. I cover my face as I start to cry softly.

I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn my head to see it's Kohaku. She have tears in her eyes, letting me know that she feels bad for me. I just keep my head down as I keep crying. Kohaku continues to gently pat my back, trying to comfort me.

For the first time, in a long time. I feel warm in my heart. A feeling I normally felt when I'm around Ukyo. Back in Tsukasa's base. He's the only one I can truly be around with. Aside from him, I always seem to put my guard up. Maybe these people weren't so bad after all. Senku maybe right... not all scientist are evil.
