after hanging out at the beach for the majority of the day the group of teens has found themselves scattered around the property, celebrating the fourth of july doing god knows what. for a moment, shayla, sienna, nicole, piper, belly and sadie occupied the overwater bungalow. the conversation started with the girls absentmindedly talking about pop culture, that was until shayla asked out of the blue, "sadie, what's going on with you and jeremiah."

the girl's eyes comically widened. the sip of her margarita that she took previously threatened to spill out of her mouth. what was shayla talking about? sadie was really trying to gaslight herself and the others. swallowing the sip she ultimately decided to play dumb, "what do you mean?"

sienna softly giggled while piper just side glanced at her sister, giving her a look, letting her know that nobody was buying her bullshit. "c'mon, sadie!" nicole spoke up, her voice holding a teasing edge to it. all of the girls expectedly looked at the younger crawford girl, waiting for her to spill the truth.

"jere and i are cool," she responded, continuing with her act. some of the girls rolled their eyes while the others sighed in disappointment. piper bit her tongue, she was extremely close to just revealing what she witnessed only the night before. yes, she witnessed the kiss, and, while she was astronomically happy that it finally happened she couldn't help but overthink that maybe it was a mistake. not that they kissed, but that they kissed drunk. "we know you're cool," sienna spoke up, "is there something else there other than cool?"

"hmm yeah, something hot?" shayla teased. sadie sighed deeply, their conversation wasn't going to end well. she and jeremiah didn't discuss the kiss, or who were they supposed to tell, or what it meant. she desperately needed advice but wasn't sure that those girls were the perfect people to ask.

"i didn't know you still liked jeremiah," belly drunkenly slurred, drinking her god-knows-what margarita. nicole smirked, remembering the conversation the group had at the pool, but not saying anything. "you like jeremiah!" sienna exclaimed the usually quiet girl's voice echoed around. "shhhhh!"

the group giggled, sadie's reaction answering all of the questions on their mind. she was caught red-handed. it was only a matter of time before jeremiah finds out. nicole and shayla were close friends with gigi, and gigi likes jeremiah. different thoughts swirled in sadie's mind sending her into complete and utter panic. "relax," shayla smirked, "your secret is safe with us."

"we kissed last night," the words just fall out of her lips without thinking. damn it. she was dying to talk to someone about it, it was stronger than her and the drinks she had earlier weren't helping. the girls gasped all of them except piper and sienna. "you and jeremiah kissed!" belly exclaimed so loud sadie was sure everyone in the five-mile radius heard her. "shhhhhhh!"

"you kissed at my party?"

"what? when?"

"fucking finally!"

"why aren't you saying anything?" the question directed at piper took her off guard. the older crawford girl scratched the back of her neck, "because i- i kinda saw it happen..." she trailed off. another wave of gasps hit the group. "you what?" piper gave out a tight-lipped smile, "it was at the beach," she told, "and- and it wasn't just a kiss it was like a make-out session."

"piper!" sadie's tone was scolding. the group cheered, if sadie wasn't mistaken she heard one of the girls wolf-whistle. "can we not talk about this? please?" she quietly begged but the girls around her weren't going to let that piece of information off so easily.

"what does jeremiah say about it?" sienna calmly questioned, sympathizing with the girl and deciding to be the voice of reason of the group. sadie hesitated, "we- we haven't really talked about it," she admitted. "what the hell are you waiting for?"

"i don't know!" the girl exclaimed, "it didn't really come up recently. i mean h- how do you even start that conversation? hey remember that kiss? oh, you don't that's cool. c'mon!" nicole smirked, she, along with everyone else was pretty invested in the situation, "oh he remembers the kiss, let me tell you."

"how do you know?"

"did you see the way he looks at you?"

"no?"

"sadie, my love, that boy remembers the kiss and he wants another one," nicole deadpanned. sadie looked at each of the girls individually expecting at least one of them to disagree, but when none of them do she let out a frustrated exhale. "did he tell you that? how do you know? huh?"

"i just know," nicole told, "all of us do." she looked around again, the sceptic in her not believing a word they were saying. "i don't know. i mean, i never really thought about it," that was a lie. a big fat ugly lie. she thought about it, she thought about it a lot, many times, really frequently, at times even she wasn't supposed to like on her date with dylan.

while she sat there with dylan, listening to him talk and watching him drink his plain black coffee she couldn't help but think of how if jeremiah was there he'd probably comment on the beautiful view from the window and make plans to come there at the night to have a swim. she couldn't help but think about how jeremiah would probably joke about something silly the waiter accidentally did. or the way his blue eyes would sparkle a little more when he looked at her.

if jere was there not a minute would be spent waisted. every moment would be filled with laughter and fun. hours would turn to minutes and they would talk about how fast the time had passed.

but, it wasn't jeremiah that sat across from her that day, it was dylan. and hours didn't turn to minutes, they turned to days. those boring days you couldn't wait to end. and his blue eyes simply just didn't sparkle the same way jeremiah's did.
