noon had slowly rolled around and sadie was more than ready for her 'date' with dylan. she got dressed earlier, she choose a light pink summer dress, and she pulled her hair back into a half up half down situation. a dose of anxiety washed over her, but she didn't mind, it was just the excitement.

the boy was going to pick her up in a few minutes so she made her way downstairs to wait for him. when she exited the house she was welcomed by quite a few faces. "sades!" jeremiah exclaimed, noticing her first. everyone else turned their heads and she could feel the anxiety worsen a little.

"wanna join us?" belly spoke up. she, jeremiah, steven and a light-haired girl were all in the pool, playing volleyball while piper, conrad and two dark-haired girls she wasn't familiar with sat around the pool. sadie shook her head. she felt her phone vibrate in her hand but she didn't check the notification. "i actually have plans!"

jeremiah raised an eyebrow, him and belly sharing a look over the volleyball nett that was put in the middle above the pool. "i don't think we've met," one of the dark-haired girls stood up, "i'm sienna," the girl smiled. sadie smiled back, shaking her hand that the girl previously held out, "i'm sadie !"

"this is taylor," belly added, pointing to the girl in the pool, "she's my friend from home that i told you about." sadie remembered belly mentioning her, the boys have already met her the previous summer but sadie didn't have a chance. the two girls awkwardly waved to each other.

"i'm nicole," the girl next to conrad spoke. now that sadie looked closer, nicole was the girl that was with the older fisher boy the night of the bonfire. sadie smiled, watching sienna making her way to her original spot. "where are you going?" piper curiously perked up, eyeing her sister."i-"

"there you are!" a familiar voice of dylan langston made himself present. was it getting crowded or was it just sadie? she looked at the blonde boy, "dylan!" she exclaimed as jeremiah eyed the boy without anyone noticing. he jogged towards and hugged her. he scanned the people watching as he pulled away, he spoke in a quieter tone, "i called you but you didn't answer. i rang the doorbell, mrs. fisher let me in to find you."

"and who is this?" piper's big sister instinct kicked in. sadie sighed quietly, wishing to just disappear on the spot. "this is dylan!" she introduced. the boy's hand didn't leave her waist from the hug and the pair was standing irritably close when the boy waved awkwardly.

jeremiah rolled his eyes watching the encounter, this time the action didn't go unnoticed. taylor smiled. "we should really go," the blonde boy said. sadie nodded taking his hand and pulling him with her. "it was nice meeting you all," he called out before they were out of eyesight. "bye!"

"are we gonna play, or what?" steven called out. taylor put the ball under her arm, deciding to comment, "i think jeremy would rather go after them," she motioned with her head to the direction the pair just went into.

jeremiah was still glaring at the spot where they just stood at, not registering the wave of 'oohs' that followed after taylor's comment. he just stood there wondering why was dylan the one she choose. why was dylan so much better that he got a chance before him.

the wave of laughter didn't hit him but the ball taylor threw did. "what the fuck?" he called out, pulled out of his thought now glaring at the girl. the group laughed again, "you heard what she said?" it was piper who asked. a small knowing smile on her lips. god was she excited, she was ready to do whatever was necessary to get her sister and the younger fisher boy together.

"no," the boy deadpanned. taylor rolled her eyes, "you'd rather go after dylan and sadie," she repeated her words only this time a little more direct than before. jeremiah's eyes widened, he didn't know what to do for a second so he decided to play dumb, "who? me?"

"no, your great aunt," steven sarcastically shot back. jere rolled his eyes in annoyance. was he really that obvious? no way. he didn't even like sadie that much, or did he? his head was really a mess. he thought that his little crush on sadie was long gone, boy was he wrong.

"does somebody like sadie?" the conklin boy cooed making the group burst out laughing. "shut up steven!" the boy exclaimed splashing the other boy with water.

"he didn't say no!" belly exclaimed, joining in on the teasing. jeremiah splashed the girl with water too and before he knew it she was retaliating. it was steven and belly versus jeremiah.

"come on guys calm down! you're not school girls!" conrad scolded, "unlike jere's crush on sadie." the laughing got louder. jeremiah stopped splashing water and glared at his brother, "oh you're so done bro." piper moved closer to conrad, getting into jeremiah's face, "you have a little crush on my baby sister! that's so cute!" the two older siblings laughed in unison.

"it's not funny!" the younger fisher boy protested. "fine! fine!" belly put her arms up in surrender.

jeremiah crossed his arms, he was mad. but piper didn't miss the small smile that lingered on his lips. the boy was ready to make her sister fall for him and piper was ready to watch it happen and help the pair every step of the way.

dylan seemed like a nice kid but he was no jeremiah, especially to sadie , and they all knew that.

"are we gonna play, or what?" jeremiah yelled, now a smile on his face. cheers erupted from the group and a friendly match of volleyball began. but the thoughts of the crawford girl stayed on his mind.
