(Author's Note: Hey beautiful readers! This story is fairly new so that's why it only has four chapters, however, I am currently writing it!

I'm well aware of how large the Sonic fandom is, and I've recently re-entered it myself. It's been nine years since I've been a Sonic fan and, as a college student, it's nice to see that the newer generation keeps that 30-year old hedgehog alive.

Enjoy the story!)

Narration: Enter the world of Mobius, a land where robots and many of Eggman's droids have overtaken much of the biological life that used to reside upon it.

Cities became Empire territories, forests became prison camps for what Empire followers call 'Insurgents', those who used to fight against the Empire.

A decade has passed since Eggman's final attack: a powerful, worldwide explosion that caused the chaos emeralds to disappear, along with all of the super powers that Sonic Team used to possess.

This caused a cataclysmic war that broke throughout all parts of the world, as technology advanced quickly to fight against Eggman's droids.

With no powers, the heroes had no way to fight. They all went their separate ways, dispersing across their world to savor the last bit of dignity they had.

Most continued to fight the Empire; either by peaceful or violent means. Some continued to fight only to protect their loved ones, while others disconnected from the world entirely, not wanting anymore part of the ongoing war.

Some even joined the Empire, either because they were forced or because they believed in the cause.

Some sit in the middle, fighting against Insurgents and the Empire simply because they refuse to choose a side.

The heroes have continued to fight the good fight and protect those who can't protect themselves, destroying the Empire's tyranny for good.

Some Mobians still believe in them, while others have taken matters in their own hands, having lost all hope that the heroes will return the world the way it was.

But what, rather, who they lost at the beginning of the war was much more costly than their powers.

-- Main Air Base, 382 Miles from Anywhere--

Advanced bullets ricocheted from the platinum walls as a female figure traverses rapidly through the corridors, a robotic machine following beside her, firing a cannon from the chest plate built within him.

To you, the reader: "Do you know what it's like to wait? To hope? To sink your knees into the ground, interlock your fingers together and pray that the ones you love and care for would someday search for you after you made an unbelievable sacrifice?"

She rotates her body to stick against the side panel of a nearby door, her shoulder-length pink spikes that curled at the tips abruptly bouncing from the speed of her escape.

The blue machine latches onto her arm, pulling her into the room before quickly striking its titanium fist to destroy the control panel leading into the room.

To you, the reader: "I used to be beautiful. I used to be a beacon of light to those who needed me. I used to be in love and loved by those around me, protecting them because that was my duty."

A whirring swoosh as their perpetrators fly past them is heard, the protective machine glancing at the pink hedgehog.

"We haven't much time. If you don't leave now, you may never will."
