The black magnum pistol with a lengthy build hugs my thigh as I search through the cave of hidden deep in the forest.

I cover my face as I step through the waterfall, the entire structure of the cave covered in a sort of green moss.

I lift the empty stones, checked the dark pathways and dug through the soil in the that's been bereft of life for years. Even with all of my efforts, what I was looking for was nowhere to be found.

Every inch of this place is wearing my patience thin as I open the door to enter the cabin, startled by scavenging Chao creatures. (Small, adorable creatures that act much like human infants, they can be hero, neutral or dark depending on who raises them) The neutral chaos pigmented a baby blue hiss at me as they obtain the remaining food scattered on the ground of what was once a well-kept fruit garden.

A heavy sigh escapes my mouth, placing my pistol in the waistband holster hidden under the shirt of my attire.

The posterior end of my body slumps downwards against the granite material of the rocky edge of the platform, adjusting the heavy plates of my golden armor, keeping my knees together as my verdant boots clasp against the rural moss.

My partner speaks from the ear piece connected to my frames, "Did you.. did you find her.. ?"

There's the question. The same question he asks me every day, despite my lack of findings. Immediate mourn overcrowded my eyes as I felt my hands limp to the side, shutting my eyes as I raise my hands back up to press my forehead against them.

"I'm sorry, Sonic ..." He accepts my silence as an answer, the same silence that I express every time my search comes out empty.

'Hm-hm!' Her lovely giggle echoes in my head, a giggle that pursues with her beautiful face, that amazing smile that could brighten up even the darkest of hearts.

Around my neck is a necklace with a weighted golden ring attached to it, the rings she used to wear around her wrists. I managed to snag one, but the other one was lost and I never found it.

This was the ring I would touch whenever she would hold my face in her hands. Her ambient smile, her eyes that used to be the most emeralds of green.

"Sun's going down .. best you make it back before the Gallants begin their patrol .. and I really don't want to build you an entirely new laser-clasp because you got captured, again."

I chuckle softly under my breath. "Sorry, I'll make sure to ask them nicely to leave our city alone next time. Those bimbos have been invading for far too long."

He sighs tiresomely, along with a small laugh. "You know gear parts are hard to scrounge up ever since the treaty. We need to be smart about picking our battles. Didn't Vector tell you this not too long ago?"

"Vector, Espió, pretty much every zone cop with higher authority than me."

"You could've ranked higher a long time ago, Sonic, you're the best officer in the coalition with stats through the roof ... I don't know why you've stayed a neophyte (level three zone cop) for as long as you have."

"Because neophytes get to travel to restricted districts .. I can't afford to pack on responsibilities."

"Sonic .. I know why you're doing this but-"

"Then stop bringing it up every time." I exude with a slice of impatience. "I told you, and I told them a long time ago-"

"That you're never going to stop looking, I know, Sonic ..."
