Louella hadn't seen much of Eddie over the next few days. Maybe once or twice when they passed each other in the school halls or cafeteria. Though, he had merely given her a small smirk and then continued chatting with his friends. I mean, it's not like she cared... obviously... we're not dating. After school on Friday, she decided she'd visit Steve and Robin at the "Family Video" store. She was greeted by Steve who had a wide grin plastered on his face.
She arched her eyebrow at him,
"What?"
He flung his arm around her neck as she made her way over to the counter,
"Nothing. Can't I be happy to see my friend?"
"Your friend? Really Steve? We've been best friends since the 7th grade."
Louella had known the Harrington's since she'd arrived at Hawkins. Perks of being adopted into a "rich" family. She hadn't seen Steve as much as she'd liked to in the past months though. She missed him. He'd always been her best friend and had always taken care of her. He was good like that. There had been a bit of tension between them when Lou had started dating Billy, but their friendship was strong enough that they didn't fall apart.
"Correction. You were in 7th grade. I'm older than you,"
He rubbed his fist into her scalp, messing up her hair.
"Hey!" she pushed him off her, causing him to stumble back and almost knock over a display, "Whatever. The point is: we used to be best friends and now I never see you anymore."
"I know, I know. You should come work here. Then you, Robin and I can always hang out."
"I'll think about it."
"Is that Lou?" Robin asked, poking her head out from the back.
"The one and only."
"Hey" she smiled as she brought out a stack of movies and placed them on the counter.
"Hi. Care to tell me why Steve was grinning like a little kid on Christmas morning?"
"I might have told him there's a guy in your life..."
"Robin!"
Steve's large grin came back. He leaned against the counter, putting his best "girl" impression on,
"Is he cute?"
"I'm not answering that."
"Oh come on."
He looked to Robin,
"Is he?"
She let out a small laugh,
"Let's just say he's not really my type."
"Um," Louella began, turning to Robin, "why are we talking about me when we could be talking about you and that girl I saw you gazing at when I crashed band practice the other afternoon?"
Steve gasped,
"What girl?"
Robin turned bright red,
"There's no girl. She's just a friend."
"She definitely has a crush on her," Lou said to Steve.
"Definitely." he confirmed.
Just then, a group of girls walked into the store, giggling and twirling their hair on their fingers. Almost as if the conversation had never happened, Steve sprang into action. He was instantly before them, offering his service. Robin and Louella had merely looked at each other and began laughing.
