I don't really like this chapter - I've been sick so it isn't written very well. I might rewrite it- idk. But please bare with me! Hopefully, it (and I) will get better soon 😂
Louella pulled up to the school. Not a single soul in sight.
"It's so early"
"Yeah, but I got a session with the guidance counsellor so..."
"Oh, yeah, that's right."
"Bye," Max said as she hopped out of the car.
"Have a good day," Louella responded, knowing that Max probably wouldn't be able to hear her.
She sighed. What was she supposed to do for an hour?
And wasn't it just her luck when that ugly van pulled up beside her?
She groaned, repeatedly hitting her head on her steering wheel. He jumped out of the van and leaned against the side of it, smiling, waiting for her to get out of her car.
She let out a deep breath before getting out. She stood between the open driver's door and the car, resting her arms on the blue steel roof.
"Are you stalking me?" Louella asked, tilting her head to the side. Eddie watched as her brown hair shifted with the movement.
"I go to school here too, you know."
"Okay then, what's your excuse for being here so early?"
He got off the van and started walking toward her,
"I gotta set up for Hellfire tonight."
"That's your D&D club, right?"
He stopped.
"Yeah... how did you-"
"Are you kidding me? It's all you talked about last year."
Eddie brought his fingers to his mouth, lightly biting on his nails as he thought.
"When?"
"Math class. Last year. With Mrs Higgins, remember? Every lesson was non-stop D&D talk with Jeff. You really don't remember?"
"Oh, with Jeff, yeah, no, I remember... wait, y-you noticed me last year?"
She scoffed,
"It was hard not to. With that big hair of yours, the leather and denim, not to mention the rings and tats"
Louella realised then that she was smiling. He noticed it too, because like she said: it was hard not to. It was one of the prettiest things he'd seen in a while, besides her that is. It was like a beam of sunlight illuminating the darkest corners of his mind.
"I-I noticed you last year too."
"Oh yeah?" she laughed.
He went to copy her movement, lying his arms on the top of her blue car, his front resting against the passenger door.
"Ohhh yeah. I remember you walking around like you owned the place, you and Billy-"
She tensed at his name.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"No, it's okay, you're all good."
Louella let out a long breath and Eddie scratched at his temple.
"Do you- uh, do you smoke?"
She looked at him suspiciously,
"Perhaps..."
