Sam Puckett wasn't planning on going to girl's choice. She secured herself a date about a month and a half ago. But she didn't like school dances and even more so she didn't really want anyone knowing the identity of only guy she would ask. But her lack of interest in school dances didn't mean that Carly had to suffer. If Carly Shay liked a guy and wanted to ask him to the dance she had Sam's full support.

So that morning when she asked her desired date, Sam was excited for her. However her best friend didn't seem to share her excitement.

"So did you ask him?" The blonde excitedly asked as she closed her locker.

"Yes."

"And?"

"No." Her brunette friend answered as she opened her own locker. "Why'd he say no?" Sam and Carly were now sharing similar moods. But the difference was Carly's mood came from being rejected and Sam's mood came from being an overprotective best friend. "Well...he claims it's because he already has a date. But it could be because I hocked a loogey right in his eye."

"You h- why would you even?"

"I don't know. It just flew off my lip."

Sam seemed to mentally remind herself that Carly really wanted to go to this dance. She waved off the situation and pushed passed the topic of Carly's lack of a date by asking. "Well who are you gonna ask now?" Carly gave her an Isn't it obvious? look before answering. "No one. There's no other guys in this school I wanna go out with."

At that very moment the dork himself walked over. "Hey." Carly responded casually. "Hey." But Sam turned to look at him. Her heart leaped just looking at those brown eyes but her words didn't show it. "Speaking of guys, Carly doesn't want to go out with." She gestured to all of him as she continued. "Ladies and gentlemen, Fredamame Benson." Ah yes, a typical insult for her favorite dork. She lived for insulting him. It was her favorite hobby, next to eating ham. He pulled out a plastic bag of bacon from his coat pocket and shook it in her face. "Girls who are rude to me don't get a bag of bacon." Sam's eyes were practically glued to the bag as Freddie smirked. "Wow, Freddie. I never realized what hot handsome hunk of boy you really are." She quickly took the bag before he could change his mind. Freddie suddenly looked much more confident and gave a little smile as he responded. "Better." Both of them were so caught up in their little quarrel that they didn't notice their recently rejected friend was offering them a subtle smile or maybe even smirk of approval.

"So what's up?" Freddie finally asked; ready to be caught up on what the girls had been talking about. "Carly spit in Nate's eye so he doesn't want to go to the dance with her." Sam explained and Carly sighed. "Huh?" Freddie put on an expression that could be read as I need more context please. "He turned me down because he already has a date." Carly corrected in a very haughty tone. "Oh so you didn't spit in his eye?" Freddie asked; gesturing towards her. "No. I did. My DNA's all over his cornea." She whined in response.

After a moment, the brunette recovered. "And why are we all focused on me? Sam doesn't have a date yet either." Both Carly and Freddie looked at Sam now. Freddie already knew what Sam would say. He had this conversation with her through texts the night before. But Carly could only guess based on years of knowing the blonde. "Because Girl's Choice dances are stupid. If a guy wants a date with Momma. He should ask me." Freddie immediately rolled his eyes because he knew the next part of this. "And pay for it! Or he can just give me the money and stay out of my life." She took a bite of the bacon from the bag. Carly had wide eyes as she said. "Wow." Sam shrugged and responded with a lie. "Well there's no guys at this school that don't make me sick." She continued eating her bacon. "This is good bacon." She nodded a few times before walking past her best friend to the brunette boy. "Any desperate girls ask you yet?" He was well aware of what her tactic was here so he just acted normal.
