Author's Note
Hi there! Thank you to those of you keeping up with this story. I know I've been kind of slow to update AeI compared to some of my other stories. I've just been facing writer's block here and there or feeling a lack of inspiration. Perhaps the story may seem a bit slow right now, but it's necessary for us to get to know the characters well and for me to lay the groundwork. Nevertheless, I hope you still find it interesting!
A special shout out to @minz123456789. Thank you for your votes! Your support means a lot to me and is so encouraging. Thank you so much for reading this story and giving it your time. 💞

Heer's P.O.V.
"What did you put in these snickerdoodles, woman?!" Haniya exclaimed before taking another bite while walking towards the Hayat doors.
I'd made an experimental batch for tomorrow's baked good of the day while she finished tidying up for closing. Now, she was going home while I was going to stay back and pre-make and freeze the cookies to make it easy for the morning employee tomorrow.
"I take it that you liked it?" I giggled, leaning forward with my forearms on the counter to stretch my lower back. My back's been aching all day while my calves had grown sore.
"Liked?! Heer, anyone would get down on their knee to ask you to marry them if you baked these for them!"
Just as I was about to respond, she bumped into a body and my smile grew large.
"Hi Kamran," she greeted him before sneaking a cheeky glance at me over her shoulder, "See you later, Heer. Bye!"
"Hi Haniya."
"Bye," I answered while making my way past the counter towards him.
He had stepped in and just as Haniya was out of view, I quickened my pace and wrapped my arms around his neck. He enveloped me in a firm embrace with his toned arms around my waist, picking me up and spinning around in a circle.
I laughed until he stopped, setting me back on the ground with his arms kept around me.
I gazed up at him with tender eyes and a smile, "Hi."
"Hi," he grinned.
"What are you doing here? You didn't tell me you were coming."
"I thought I'd catch my girlfriend before closing and whisk her away on a surprise ice cream date."
My heart skipped a beat hearing him call me that. His girlfriend.
We were nearing a week of dating.
I sighed playfully, pouting, "You're not that considerate of a boyfriend."
"Why is that, babe?" his eyes glimmered with adoration, holding me closer, "Tell me, and I'll try to be better."
"We're getting close to mid-November and it's so cold out. Your girlfriend will be on the verge of hypothermia if she has ice cream in these temperatures," I held my hand up in front of him innocently while keeping my other arm hooked around his neck, "My nails turn blue when I get cold, did you know that?"
"Oh, we can't have that now, can we?" he brought my hand to his lips before intertwining our fingers, "I was only thinking of her sweet tooth, but she shouldn't worry about the cold."
I lifted an eyebrow, suppressing a smile.
He lowered his head a pressed a kiss to my cheek then to the side of my neck before murmuring against the skin, "She has a boyfriend to keep her warm."
