Akoya walked in the tall grass that was almost reaching her head, and wondered about her and her family.
What happened to my mother? Did I have any siblings, or any other family members? What made my father so... sad?
Akoya shook herself out of those thoughts. There are more important things to think about. I've been living on this island my whole life and I dont even know where I am! I could be in the middle of the ocean, or on an island that is part of some kind of continent. Am I still in Pyrrhia? Or in Pantala?
Akoya was eager to know where she was, but her father would simply say "I don't know."
But she doesn't ask anymore, because her father barely cares for her. Akoya has basically become a dragon who lives with someone else who can't see her.
Akoya reached the beach and went into the water. She swam and looked around for any fish she could find.
Eventually she found some and swam after them. Then she grabbed them and swam back to the beach. She sat on the sand and ate the three fish she caught.
I should do something, she thought. I want to explore what's out there! If I'm in the middle of the ocean, then it's fine, because I'm a SeaWing. But I should probably ask father if we can go. Maybe he will agree.
Akoya finished up her food and flew towards the house she and her father lived in.
After a short flight, she saw the blue painted walls and the dark gray roof tiles of their home. She landed onto the porch and walked inside, seeing her father sleep on the orange couch.
Akoya sighed. As always.
She walked up the stairs and opened the door for her bedroom. She looked around. It was pretty much empty, other than a bed, a bookcase with some books on it, and a table with a plant on it.
She walked onto her bed and looked out of her window that was next to it. There was barely anything cool on that island other than a tree next to their house and a few boulders near the beach.
I don't like it here anymore, she thought. I should go ask him now.
Akoya got up and walked down to her father, who she assumed had woken up because she had come back inside.
"Father?" She asked.
He looked over at her and grumbled, "What do you want?"
"Can we pleeeeease go somewhere else? We've been sitting on this island for five years and there is nothing else to do," she said.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because."
"That's not a valid reason," Akoya said.
"Just get away from me!" He barked
Akoya walked back up to her room, sat on her bed and sighed. That didn't go well.
You know what? I can't stay here any longer, she thought, I am leaving.
Soon, the sky turned dark and stars started appearing. The crickets had started doing their noises, and the moons shined bright.
Akoya was ready to leave, but there was one problem: Her father was still awake.
She had to think. What was the best way to escape without him noticing?
She sneaked down the stairs and tried to look where he was. When she saw him, he was rearranging things in his chests.
Maybe this is the perfect time to go, she thought. He has his back turned from the window below mine, I think I might manage to make it.
She silently walked back up the stairs and went into her room. Should I bring something?
She thought a little bit. A necklace!
Akoya walked into her fathers bedroom and looked at the enchanted necklaces in his chest.
She looked carefully through them when she heard footsteps coming up the stairs.
Uh oh, she panicked.
She picked up a random necklace, took a leather pouch, and headed out of his room. But he quickly stopped her and asked her why she was in his room.
"I read something in one of my books and I wanted to try it out, so can I use your pouch?" She asked.
"Yeah, whatever," he answered and went into his room, slamming his door shut.
Akoya sighed in relief and went back into her room. She examined the necklace she took; there were pearls on it, shining like the moons in the sky.
She put it in the pouch and strapped the pouch around her neck. Then, she waited until there was complete silence from her father's room, and climbed out of her window carefully.
Once she made it to the ground, she walked behind the house in the shadows, and looked around. Which way do I go?
She turned to her right and leaped into the air, flying towards... somewhere.
I finally get to see what else there is!
