Lyonsia looked outside of her window. It's a good day today, she thought.

She looked over at her husband, who was working on a project of his.

She stepped closer and touched his shoulder. Then she brightened her scales so he could catch her attention.

Abzu, we should go for a swim, her scales flashed.

But I'm working on my project, he flashed back and looked up at Lyonsia.

Come on, it's a good day! Let's go. She pulled his arm.

Fine, Abzu flashed, but then looked over at their light blue egg, which was in a cozy structure that he had built. What about her?

She'll be fine, she still has a few months to go, Lyonsia smiled.

Abzu smiled back. Okay.

Abzu and Lyonsia swam above the corals and anemones, and watched the colourful fish swim around them.

I told you that it's a wonderful day, she smiled.

Yeah, he flared his scales gently. He took a quick look at the ocean floor and then looked back up at Lyonsia. I have something important to tell you.

Go ahead, she flashed.

I've been keeping a secret from you, and I hope it doesn't make you too mad. Please accept me from this.

What is it? She asked.

I am an animus.

Ha, that's a funny joke, Lyonsia laughed.

No, Lyonsia, I'm serious. I actually am an animus, Abzu flashed.

Lyonsia stood still, not saying anything and trying to comprehend what he just told her. This is not good. He will go insane and try to kill me and my daughter. I can't stop an animus, what do I do?

You can't be with me anymore, she flashed out of panic, and Abzu's face changed from hope to anger.

What do you mean I can't be with you? He flashed back. I won't use any of my magic, I won't go insane, I won't loose my soul. I promise.

You can't promise that, she lit up her scales.

Yes I can! Are you saying you don't trust me?

You know what? Yes, I don't trust you.

Alright then, if you don't want me to be with you, then that shall be it. Goodbye, Lyonsia, Abzu flared his scales violently and swam back to their house.

Where are you going? She asked him quickly but there was no response.

She swam after him, but quickly lost him. Once she made it to their home, she noticed her egg was missing from the cozy structure.

No, no! He took the egg! He took my egg! She thought in agony.

Oh, why did this have to happen?

Why?
