Akoya and Moonshine had been flying and taking breaks for a whole day. Moonshine said that there's a whole night left until they make it to their destination.
Akoya started thinking about the day before where she met the queen. It was the first queen she had ever met.
Then she suddenly remembered Queen Apple's words. There's an entire city larger than mine for tribes like yours.
"Moonshine!" she spoke. "Queen Apple said that there is a whole city with SeaWings."
"Oh yeah, but it's not time to go there yet," Moonshine replied. "Sorry."
Akoya looked down at her talons.
"Hey, don't be sad. You will get there eventually. Just be a bit more patient," Moonshine said, trying to comfort her by putting her wing on Akoya. "Let's keep going, shall we?"
They both got up and started flying towards a large birch forest.
After a little while of flying between the trees, they reached a large field with tons of colourful flowers and a bunch of different coloured dragons. The sun was setting, but the field was nicely lit up all over it.
"This is the Kingdom of Colour and the home of the HueWings. There is another tribe called ThunderWings that work with them. And today is a special day. All three moons are full tonight and they are going to dance to music the whole night," Moonshine said. "We can stay and enjoy this for a bit."
"Yes! We should," Akoya said excitedly.
"Alright, come up then," Moonshine smiled and climbed the nearest tree.
Akoya followed her and they sat on the branches, waiting for the music to start.
The two dragonets talked and talked until the crowd fell silent.
"What's going on?" Akoya whispered.
"Queen Sangria is going to give a speech about the alliance and the war," Moonshine answered.
"There's a war?! Why didnt you tell me?" Akoya asked.
"Sorry, I forgot," Moonshine responded.
Akoya rolled her eyes.
"We won't be able to hear her because we're too far away," Moonshine said.
"What is she talking about?" Akoya wondered.
"About her winning the war," Moonshine replied.
"How do you know so much?" Akoya asked suspiciously.
"Trust me, I know everything," Moonshine said and looked at the moons.
Akoya watched the queen in silence, trying to recognise what she was saying. But she found no luck, she could barely hear her voice from that far. The queen's dark red scales were lit up by the nearby lanterns. Then the dragon next to her started speaking, having a bit of a louder voice. This time, Akoya could catch a few words from her speech, like "alliance" and "war".
"Let the festival begin!" the other dragoness said loud enough for Akoya and Moonshine to hear.
The crowd started cheering and suddenly music started playing. The dragons in the field started dancing and singing along to the song.
"I wish I could dance out there too," Akoya spoke.
"Me too, but we can't be seen by them," Moonshine said.
"Why not?" Akoya asked.
"Because it will get us unto trouble. That's what you wanted, right? To not experience any more danger?" Moonshine replied.
"Yeah..." Akoya said.
"Okay. Uhh.. They will go on for a bit so you can sleep a bit before the exciting part starts," Moonshine recommended.
"Alright." Akoya nodded. She took a quick last look at the dancing dragons and then closed her eyes. Not long after she fell asleep.
Akoya woke up to the sound of her name. Moonshine was telling her to wake up.
"So what's the exciting part?" Akoya yawned.
"You'll see in a minute," Moonshine said.
"What time is it?" Akoya asked.
"Almost midnight," Moonshine answered. "I can't wait for you to see it. Basically it's a gift from the TechWings before Queen Sangria and Queen Apple were queens. You'll love it."
"What's the gift called?" Akoya wondered.
"Fireworks," Moonshine responded.
Fireworks, Akoya echoed.
"Here, have an apple," Moonshine offered.
"Thanks." Akoya took the apple and started munching on it.
"Akoya!" Moonshine said a few minutes later. "Watch."
Moonshine spread her wing to show the sky a bit more, and Akoya's jaw dropped. Something shot up into the sky with a whistle, then exploded into many bright colours. More and more flew up and popped. Boom! Boom! The light illuminated the sky, and Akoya watched in awe. This was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She was completely speechless.
"Wow," Akoya managed to say.
"I know, its beautiful," Moonshine said calmly.
Akoya and Moonshine watched the colourful flares together explode into the night sky. They admired it for hours and hours to come.
"We should get going," Moonshine interrupted.
"Wait, just a bit longer," Akoya pleaded.
Moonshine smiled. "Okay."
Akoya looked at the multicoloured lights for a few minutes until they stopped. She wanted more, but of course nothing lasts forever.
"Alright. Lets go," Moonshine said.
Akoya nodded and followed after her.
Lets see where else she takes me, Akoya thought.
