Marianne's POV

When I got to my class I walked over to the teacher "Hi... um, I'm new-" The teacher looked at me "I saw you on my attendance, Marianne right?" I nodded and the teacher smiled at me "You can sit in the back with Edward." Looking at the back of the class "Who?" I asked, the teacher had Edward raise his hand "Of course..." I muttered to myself walking to the back of the class. Edward moved his jacket from my seat. I sat next to him as the teacher started the lesson. We sat in silence for a few minutes while everyone around us talked, I sighed and looked over at him "I'm Marianne... I figured that since we have to sit together for the rest of the semester we should get along-" He glared at me "There's no point of us getting along, just finish your half of the work so we don't have to retake this class." He looked away from me "Asshole" I looked at the front of the class.

After my fourth hour, I went to my locker to put up my forensics books when I felt someone brush past me. I looked back there Edward was, his locker was three down from mine. I don't know if he could feel that I was looking but he looked up giving me the meanest look that I've ever gotten from anyone. The girl from earlier walked up to him and he looked away from me and smiled down at her as they started walking in the opposite direction.

My next two classes passed faster than I expected them to and by the end of the day I was outside waiting on Brielle when I felt an arm sit on my shoulder "Are we waiting for that best friend of yours?" I looked up at Jacob and nodded "She's taking her sweet time too." He chuckles "I saw her with Jessica last." "Well, she better hurry up..." A few minutes had passed until I saw Brielle come out with a group of people. "Well, she made friends fast." We watched her walk up to us "Hey Mari I'm going out with the girls, do you want to come?" She smiled at me then looked at Jacob "Hello, Mr. Competition," Brielle said with a bit of an attitude "Well hey there Ms. Best friend" I heard him chuckle as I looked over at the group seeing the girl that I saw with Edward earlier and I shook my head "I'm just going to go home" Brielle pouted but nodded "I'll see you when I make it home then." She walked back over to the group.

I looked up at Jacob "I should get going before it starts to rain again." I started to open my umbrella. "I can take you home... or we can go to my place, my dad would be so happy to see you." I looked at my phone "I should call my grandma and tell her that I'm going first." He nodded "I'm going to go pull my bike up for you" Once he started to walk away I pulled my grandma's contact up and then called her. The phone rang a few times before she answered "Marianne", "Hi mama, I was calling to tell you that you don't have to come to pick us up", "Are you both going out somewhere?", "Yes mama, I'm going out with Jacob and Brielle is going out with some friends she made in school today.", "Jacob? Billy's boy?", "Yeah Ma, I'll call you when I'm on my way home.", "Tell him that I said hi, I'll see you later.", "See you later." I hung up when I saw Jacob come around with his bike "So... how are we going to do this? My dress is pretty tight." Jacob handed me his helmet "Just sit down and hold on tight.", I sat behind him and put the helmet on. "And now would be the time you put your arms around me", "Shut up..." I wrapped my arms around his waist and he pulled off.

Once we got to his place he helped me off the bike "That dress seems pretty uncomfortable, wanna get out of it?" I laughed "Is that a corny pickup line?" He laughed and shook his head "No, it was a genuine question" He lead me into the house. As soon as I walked in I saw a bunch of boys around our age sitting in Jacob's living room "Ah... I'm sorry Mari, I didn't know they would be here", "Why are you apologizing?" I looked up at him. "Jake! You're finally home, we were thinking about heading over to the beach-" Jacob looked a little annoyed but he nodded "Just let me go do something." He pulled me up to his room "Do you still want to change? The beach is going to be cold" I nodded then he handed me a shirt with sweatpants "Thank you..." I waited for him to leave the room. He stared at me for a second before he realized why I was waiting "Oh I'm sorry" He left the room.

After I changed I made my way back to the living room, "There she is! The girl of the hour." Billy rolled up to me "You look just how you used to when you were a little girl." I smiled at him "I like to think that I changed a lot." He chuckles and nods "We'll all have to have dinner together, have your grandma call me." I nodded "I'll tell her as soon as I make it home." Jacob came over "We should get going." I looked at Billy again "I'll see you later" I waved as Jacob ushered me out of the house "We're getting a ride with Embry." I nodded and followed him to the car getting in. On the way to the beach, it started to rain but by the time we got there it had cleared up.

Once we made it to the beach I watched half of the group run off into the water while another half stayed at the car with me and Jake. "Aren't they just going to be cold?" I asked Jacob as he lead me away from the car, he shrugged and kept walking "After a while, you get used to being in the cold." I looked at the water "You know being caught up in the city life... you tend to forget how beautiful the world is.", "I wish I could experience the city life... something outside of little old Forks." I looked up at him "Nobody says you have to stay here forever, you should travel to your heart's desire." He smiled down at me "You know... if everybody had your optimism the world would be a better place."

I laughed a little "Me? Optimism? Brielle would disagree..." I noticed that he was staring a little longer than usual "...Do you remember when my dad used to bring us here?" I smiled at him and nodded "All the sand castles and water fights." The both of us laughed a bit "Well that's the day that I decided that you would be my sunshine... because you made this gloomy town feel sunny."

"Your sunshine?" I smiled "Well I can be your sunshine again," I said as we made our way back to the group.

We spent the night at the beach with his friends before he took me back home. He walked me to the porch "I had a great time with you tonight Mari..." I smiled at him "I did too Jake, I'll see you tomorrow at school" He nods and smiled waiting for me to go in. I unlocked the door and slipped in.
