Brielle POV
I stood on the porch for a few minutes taking in the scenery, I wanted to get comfortable with the town. I put my AirPods in and played music while I started my walk down the street. I eventually made my way toward the nearest woods and started the path.
It was so beautiful, with tall trees around me, and big branches are hanging low enough to sit on. I felt at peace at this moment. I kept walking further inside to see where this path led. I eventually reached an opening but it was just a lonely road that stretched farther than my eyes could see. I checked my phone to see the time, I'd been walking for an hour and a half, and I had to decide to turn around and go home or cross the street and continue my path. I decided to keep walking since it was fairly light outside. I cross the lonely road and made my way to the next set of trees.
I eventually got the urge to climb one of the trees to see the scenery from a different point of view. I climbed with fear and excitement inside of me. By the time I looked around and decide to stop climbing, I was so far up. I looked down and fear took over my body. I sat there frozen. I didn't know how I was going to get down and I thought about calling granny to come to get me but I just stayed put.
I sat there listening to music when the incident of the beautiful man with dreads crossed my mind, fear started to fill up inside of me so I pushed the thought away and just focused on the music. I started to doze off when my music stopped, my AirPods were dead so I put them in the case to charge up. I thought it'd be best if I tried climbing down since I was getting tired and it was getting late. I held on to the branch tightly as I put my foot down on the branch, I started to feel comfortable and tried to do it again but my foot slipped. I was now dangling and holding on to the branch for dear life. I looked down to see that I was too far up to jump and make a safe landing. My hands were starting to hurt so I prepared myself for the fall that could kill me.
"Let go, I got you." I heard a familiar voice say. I didn't even have to look down, I knew exactly who it was. I closed my eyes and let go of the branch that kept me safe. It felt like I was falling in slow motion, I thought I was flying. I let gravity take control as adrenaline reached my core. I fell into his arms with nothing but shivers and a smile on my face. "Yes! So much fun." I opened my eyes to see Edward with a frown on his face. "Why must you do dangerous shit? Why am I saving you for the second time?" He stood there with me in his arms. "I'm sorry," my tone was soft and apologetic. I was honestly grateful that he was there... both times. "Why are you always in the woods?" He started to walk with me in his arms still. "It's beautiful there..." I looked up at him. "Wait, why are you always in the woods? Both times you were in the woods to save me." I switched it back on him. His face goes soft but he doesn't answer my question. "I thought my way home was the other way" I looked behind us as we walked deeper into the woods. "My car is this way, I'm taking you home." was his response. "Well, you know I can walk." He looked at me and smirked. He put me down. "Yeah, but can you keep up." He started to walk extremely fast. I had to run to keep up with him. "How are you moving this fast and you're not even running?" I asked in between breaths. He chuckled and slowed down a bit. I ended up sitting down on another log to catch my breath. "How far is your car?" I asked looking up at him. "Much further." He smirked bending down in front of me. "Want to be carried again?" I looked at him and rolled my eyes. "No." I stood up waiting for him to lead the way. I secretly wanted to be carried, I didn't know how far we had to walk and I was very tired. Edward chuckled as he stood up and turned around. "What's funny?" I asked him confusedly. He shook his head as he continued walking at my paste. The rest of the walk was silent except for my occasional outbursts of complaints. "How much longer?" I pouted out while stopping. "Geez, we are here." He turned around and laughed at me. I rolled my eyes and headed to the passenger side. Edward beat me there and held the door open for me. I got in and held myself super tight. I was shivering at that point. When he made his way to the driver's seat he sighed. "Put your seat belt on." I looked at him and rolled my eyes continuing to rub my arms to warm them up. Edward chuckled and shook his head before reaching over and wrapping my seatbelt around me, we made eye contact as the seat belt clicked and he gave me this dumb smile. "Can you drive now, I need the hottest shower that I could get." I closed my eyes thinking about the warmth. He shook his head before pulling off. He drove recklessly fast down the lonely road, my adrenaline was starting to warm me up as I looked over at him. "You should slow down," I spoke as my heart was starting to beat out of my chest. "Slow down Edward" I shouted at him. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it, but it was dark and you couldn't see anything past his headlights, it wasn't safe. He looked over at me for longer than necessary when driving. "Eyes on the road." The anger was starting to come out.
He started to slow down when we came to the end of the lonely road and were faced with a red light. At this point, I was breathing through my mouth with my eyes closed, my heart was beating in my ears. I looked over at him to find him staring at me. "What, that scared you?" He asked with amusement in his eyes. "Yes, you were driving like a freaking maniac," I shouted. "So that scared you but hanging from a tree didn't? Me driving fast scared you, but being face to face with a dangerous... being wasn't scary?" He asked still amused. I just looked down at my lap. "How was I supposed to know that someone was in the woods with me, how was I supposed to know he was dangerous? And why were you in the woods anyway? Both times..." I switched it around on him as the light turned green. He just looked straightforward and didn't say anything. I just looked out the window until we got close to my house. "It doesn't matter why I was there, this situation shouldn't have taken place at all." he finally responded to my question. "I do appreciate you saving my life... both times." I smiled at him and he returned it. "You're welcome... I wonder what our next encounter will be like." he chuckled. "Hopefully not another near-death experience." I laughed but just then, I thought about the man with dreads. I was about to ask what happened to him but when we pulled up to my house, I saw Mark's car in my driveway. "Shit, thank you so much for everything," I said to Edward as I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened my door. I got a feeling that Edward knows that's Mark's car but he still got out of the car anyways. "Let me walk you inside." He met me in front of the car. "No, it's fine. Bye Edward." I walked towards Mark's car seeing that he was inside of it and watched Edward pull away. Before I could reach his car, he turned it on. "Wait Mark," I said as I ran to his door and opened it. "Hey, is everything okay?" I asked noticing how mad he was. "Why do you care?" He spits back. "Okay... what's that supposed to mean?" I looked at him confused. "So, what were you doing with Edward, huh?" He stepped out of the car. "I went on a walk and I got stuck in a tree and he just so happened to be there and helped me down and because it was almost dark he gave me a ride back." as I spoke I realized how suspicious it sounded. He shook his head and chuckled. "Haha, very funny... now tell me the truth." I looked him straight in the eyes. "That is the truth, all honesty." He shook his head. "You're full of shit." I rolled my eyes. "Go home, sleep on it, and we'll talk about this later because you're too mad for no reason," I said as I started walking away. He grabbed my arm. "No, I want you to tell me, why this is the second time ya'll being together and you lied about both encounters? You aren't a good liar anyway." I pulled away from him. "Don't fucking grab me like that. I lied to you the first time and I'm sorry for that but I'm not lying to you about this, and if this is how you're going to act then you need to leave." I turned around and ran inside the house. I walked in as Billy and Jacob were leaving. "Hey Brielle, this is my dad Billy." "Hi Jacob, Hi Mr. Black." I looked at granny and Marianne then ran upstairs.
I got my pajamas out and took a steaming shower. When I got back in my room, Marianne was there. "What's wrong?" I shook my head in response as I went into my closet to lotion up and get dressed. "You sure?" I heard her ask me through the closet door. "I'm sure Marianne... how was dinner?" I asked her to change the subject. "My dinner was fucking insane... I actually have big news-" She started to talk, but fairly early on I realized that I wasn't in the mood to talk. I walked out of the closet dressing in pajamas. "Actually I'm not up for talking right now but I'll come into your room tomorrow to talk about what happened and your dinner," I said as I sat on my bed. . "Okay..." She said and got off the bed "Talk to you tomorrow." She left my room.
I checked my phone before putting it on the charger to see I had a lot of missed calls and texts from Mark asking where I was and seeing if I wanted to go grab food with him. I rolled my eyes and sighed again before texting Jessica asking if I could get a ride from her tomorrow. After she responded with a yes I turned my lamp off and fell asleep.
The next morning felt like a blur, I just finished my morning routine and then went to eat breakfast. I sat down and toned everybody out until I heard my phone ding. I stood up when I got a text. I looked at who texted before standing up "That's Jessica, I'll see you both later." I grabbed my backpack and left.
