The fan was blasting in the dance practice room. Yin stood alone in the vast space. She was preparing for the competition dance and she needed to choreograph a dance. She didn't seem to know what song she was going to use. She had browsed through her playlist just moments before and nothing stuck out.
It was just hard for her to focus. The events from just days ago kept haunting her brain. She wanted to stop thinking about Byungho, but his face kept popping up in her mind.
She felt the anger rise back and she took her phone and just turned on some aggressive songs. She needed to release her anger through dance.
The speakers blasted in the room as Yin stood on her feet. She listened to the groove of the song before she exploded into a freestyle dance. All the frustration built up was being released through her movements.
As the first song ended, Yin plopped on the ground. Her chest moved rapidly from her breathing. She slid over to take a water bottle from the front of the room and began to hydrate her body again.
"I think I have a song idea," Yin said to herself and snatched her phone and began to scroll through her list of songs. The song was called 'Toast' by Lucianna and Ameerah.
Turning the song on, she listened to the beats of the song. Her mind whorled with many different options she could use in the dance.
Yin set her phone up in the front of the room. She hit play and freestyled to the song. She would use this as a way to help choreograph. She would do this a few times and then watch it back and take the parts that she liked and connect them all together with other dance movements.
She felt a little sassiness coming from the song which she incorporated a little. She wanted to impress everyone with the routine that their eyes would pop out of sockets.
It was also helping her break free from the world around her. Her mind was off on the song instead of her problems in the real world.
She didn't get the beginning as she wanted to do that formation with everyone else, but she had an idea of what to do. She took out her notebook and added little marks to where a formation could be.
From the next part, there was a heavy beat drop in the song. Yin stood at an angle and kicked to the front before jumping out in a wide stance. Her head faced the side and moved her arms to hit the same side before they flung out forward.
Yin listened to the backbeats of the song and did a rocking motion where she shook her body and lifted her right leg. She did a small chest roll that followed her arms to slightly turn her body. Her arms flung up into the air and they would slowly come back down as she allowed her whole body to pop to the music.
Yin recorded the first part on her phone so that she wouldn't forget it. When the members would be here, she could look more into the formations of the dance.
Yin plays the song again to focus more on the dance as the door opens. She notices a figure slipping inside. Yin continues to finish before pausing the song.
Yohan flashed a smile as he moved over to the female. He had a worried look on his face as he neared her. His hands were tucked inside his pockets.
"Is everything alright?" he asked.
Yin wasn't someone to share their feelings with others. She didn't know how to fully express them, but Yohan always knew when she wasn't at her best. He was one of the only people to have seen Yin cry.
"Byungho and I are separated," Yin flat out told him.
"What happened? Did he do something to you?"
They sat on the floor as Yin took a drink of her water. "He's been off this past week. We always used to hang out with each other and would have random movie nights at the apartment. He recently seemed to grow more distant."
Yin looked up at her brother, hoping to get a reaction. His face was blank as he paid attention to her story.
"I finally confronted him about it and he got very defensive. I know he keeps talking to someone on the phone because he never allows it to escape his hands and his eyes are always glued to the screen."
"It does sound suspicious," Yohan pointed out."Have you ever tried to get a hold of him? He shouldn't have to be the only one to ask."
"I've invited him to come to watch all of us dance during our busking events and he claims he is busy every single time."
Yohan went silent. Yin could tell he was thinking about the whole situation. She leaned against his shoulder as his arms came and wrapped around her.
"I don't know what he is doing. I thought we had a good relationship, but everything took a turn for the worst."
"Maybe a break would be good. In a week, go back and have a calm conversation without the two of you screaming at each other. "
Yin moved to have her face embrace his chest. She couldn't help but allow a few tears to slip out of her brown eyes. She just wanted to be comforted by her brother.
Yohan could tell how hurt Yin actually was. He's known her for so long that just by her body language or even a glint in her eyes, he could tell exactly what kind of mood Yin was in.
"You're too nice to me, " Yin joked as she pulled away. "Most brothers tease their sisters for crying."
"Would you like me to tease you, then?"
Yin pulls away from Yohan and gives him a punch in the arm. He pretends that it was hurting, but he couldn't keep up the act long as Yin pushed him away and stood on her feet.
She pressed play again on the phone in which the same song from earlier blasted in the room. She quickly did the steps she made and started to do a little freestyle at the end.
Yohan couldn't help but laugh at Yin's actions as she did little weird dances. He joined her as they messed around in the practice room.
"How is the first part?" Yin asked, wanting some feedback.
"I'm enjoying it. Why don't you do something like this next," Yohan said as he moved into the center of the room.
Yin played the song again and right after the finished dance, Yohan jumped forward as his right arm rolled forward as he leaned down. He rolled back as he leaned to the left as his arms rolled to move the last movement. He would then kick the ground to turn.
Yin clapped and had him do it again so she could remember the part. She held the phone and played it again as she silently cheered for her brother. He did a little dance that was similar to what Yin already made before continuing into his new part.
Yohan had to leave soon after to get ready for an upcoming class. Yin waved him goodbye before grabbing her notebook and filling in some more formations that popped into her head. She needed to get the first counts done so she would be ready to teach everyone the following day.
"This song really is an interesting choice," Yin said to herself.
She began to explore more levels within the dance. She didn't want them all performing the same move during the whole dance. She would have enjoyed having some people shine throughout the dance. It wouldn't be full solos, but the audience would keep their main focus on them.
It was a tiring process of coming up with dances and then changing some parts as they felt uncomfortable. She would get some feedback from the others tomorrow when they would hold their first practice.
Jieun would definitely have some parts that might need to change or add to the dance. Yin didn't mind taking criticism from the female since Jieun was also a wonderful dancer.
Yin continued to work hard until the sun began to make its way down the sky in order to sleep. Yin gathered her things and got some food before making her way back to the apartment.
