The Story of Benjamin Rogers

Part 1

Steve and Benjamin were sat in the enrolment center, waiting patiently for their name to be called out. They were both scrawny looking, Steve more so than Benjamin. They had lost count at how many times they have tried to enrol, each time they were rejected due to health problems. Still this didn't make them give up. Steve's name was then called. Benjamin gave him and encouraging nod. After a minute he saw Steve turn around disappointedly, making him sigh. His name was then called.

Man: "Rogers. Any relation to Steve Rogers who was just here?"

Benjamin: "Yes, sir."

He then looked at his file and down the list of medical problems. He had ADHD which was considered to be nothing but a mischievous boy back then. He also had asthma just like Steve.

Man: "Sorry, son."

Benjamin: "Look, just give us both a chance."

Man: "Your both ineligible on your asthma alone."

Benjamin: "Is there anything you can do?"

Man: "I'm doing it. I'm saving your life."

He then slammed the stamp on the file making him sigh and turn around. He exited the building to meet with Steve.

Steve: "Didn't get it either?"

Benjamin: "Nope."

Steve: "I'm sick of this. I just want to help."

Benjamin: "I know Ste. Don't lose hope though, alright?"

Steven nodded and looked down.

Benjamin; "Hey, why don't we go the movies, cheer your moody ass up?"

Steve smiled and nodded his head gratefully. They then made there way to the movies. After paying for there tickets and snacks they found there seat that was around the middle. The trailers then started, showing war movies.

Trailer: "War continues to ravage Europe. But help is on the way. Every able-bodies Young man is lining up to serve his country."

Steve and Benjamin stare at the screen.

Trailer: "Even little Timmy is doing his part collecting scrap metal. Nice work, Timmy!"

Man: "Who cares? Play the movie already!"

Steve: "Hey, you wanna show some respect?"

Benjamin looked at him and then the man.

Trailer: "Meanwhile, overseas, our brave boys are showing the Axis powers that the price of freedom is never too high."

Man: "Let's go! Get on with it! Hey, just start the cartoon!"

Benjamin: "Hey, you wanna shut up!"

The man then stood up and turned to face the brothers. He then grabbed them both and dragged them outside down an alleyway.

He punched both brothers in the face. Benjamin pushed Steve behind him as he got hit again, this time knocking him down. The man kept punching both brothers, Benjamin more so than Steve as he was protecting him, however they both kept getting back up for more. Steve grabbed a bin lid to use as a shield while Benjamin stood with his hands up ready. The man yanked the bin lid away and punched Steve again. Benjamin went to punch him but from the height difference and strength the man easily dodged it and punched him. The brothers were now back on there feet next to each other.

Man: "You just don't know when to give up, do ya?"

Steve: "We can do this all day."

Both brothers were breathing hard as the fight started again. Once they were both knocked down again, Bucky came and grabbed the man off them.
