Part 26 - Fired?

~Gassy's POV~

"Only one more day before I'm released," Ze explains, holding his feet together and looking to me happily. I smile, happy he's been the same as before the mission lately, he's been smiling around me more and just talking about pointless things. His legs have been a lot better and he has mostly healed up now so I wouldn't doubt his release is soon. Ever since that day I saw Alice I haven't seen her again, which makes me curious as to what her and Ze actually spoke about after I left. I walk into the room and close the door behind me as Ze holds up a fancier looking bag than usual. "For celebration is these chips my parents sent me." I look at the bag of chips and raise an eyebrow, unsure these even existed before just now.

"Chocolate covered chips? Holy shit dude," I mutter and he laughs, opening the bag letting out the smell of chocolate. As he already goes ahead of me to take the first bite I open the curtains of the window and watch as the dark sky is slowly being illuminated by the rising sun.

"Holy shit these actually taste good," Ze mumbles through the chips making me glance over to him. His eyes are absolutely shining as he munches on one after another. Despite his enthusiasm I still hesitate to consider eating one up until the moment where he stops and holds one out towards me. "Come on, try one, it isn't that bad." I gulp and take the chocolate covered chip and slowly take a small botd, and when it turns out to not be horrid I also eat the rest of the chip. His eyes are glowing in anticipation and I finally sigh and laugh, nodding to confirm.

"Yeah, they're not bad," I mutter and he immediately laughs and takes another before scooting up on the bed and glanced outside. While he moves I watch him carefully. Over the past couple of weeks we have been acting the exact same before any of the confusion. I have begun to notice a few things about Ze though, like he always checks if I have anything on my belt or how he always makes sure not to lose focus. It wasn't bad like this before so it makes me wonder if he heard of the order I received or if he just knows I've nearly come to end him. If he does know I can't help but wonder how the hell he can stay in the same room with me. He still doesn't like kissing anymore, I've come close to it many times but he always pulls away and pushes me away at the last moment and gives me this sad smile. Of course it hurts my feelings but I'm trying my best to try and understand him. Since as of lately Alice hasn't been visiting it has let me feel better about myself and my position in his life.

"How has the base been?" Ze suddenly asks, glancing over at me with a lonely look. I sigh and look through the window, the sun rising quickly, too quick for my liking.

"Same as usual. Chilled has been doing his work properly, Diction has been really busy as of lately, just the same pretty much. The most exciting news is that food has been going missing," I mention and laugh when I think about Nanners having to steal food. It's the only thing I see as to how the food is going missing. Ze also laughs and glances down.

"I guess that's good. Hey.... Gassy, if one of us happen to leave the base what'll we do?" I freeze, stunned he'd ask such a thing. He can't be thinking on escaping now, would he? Maybe him and Chilled are done with this life or something of the sort? "You know, I mean because the base is pretty much the only reason we're together. What happens when we leave?"

"You want something else?" I ask and immediately he tenses up, probably not expecting me to react seriously. Sighing I take his hand and hold onto it tightly, holding up our entwined hands. "I'll do nearly everything for you. Just say what you want, I'll leave the base with you if you want." he burned up completely and shakes his head, pulling his hand away.

"Don't be stupid, nothing that serious. We'll see when it comes up," Ze mutters and I just smile and glance back out the window seeing the sun is out in the sky now, illumination the bright blue sky. Sighing I get up from the bed and stretch before turning to Ze and carress his face, bringing it up to me and I press my lips against his forehead.
