The first three days went perfectly, like old days. It felt like home. They spent their days between swimming, eating and drinking. But what no one knew was, once everyone fell asleep Rose and Marley went to swim late at night and spend hours talking and sharing every slightest thought they had, and obviously they had to keep it a secret since the fight Rose and Stan had earlier that week.

The fifth day Stan suggested doing something special and going to have dinner somewhere nice and what he thought was Rose's favorite restaurant.

Rose never liked making scenes and being in the attention center, so once she felt all eyes were on her she felt awkward and anxious. All she could think about at that moment was how badly she wanted to go home, she was looking desperately for comfort in Marley's eyes but all she found was pain and tears.

By the end of the night, Stan asked her to go with him outside so he could smoke. It was a bit weird since he was just smoking a cigarette inside but she went anyway. Stan was acting weird, a bit nicer than usual and especially more nervous. He was hesitant, looking in her eyes trying to get words out of his mouth but he couldn't, he felt like it was a mistake, everything was telling him to not talk but he did. "You look very pretty!" she smiled "So do you!" silently he got on one knee looking at her "What are you doing stan!" "Will you marry me?" Rose looked at the restaurant window seeing everyone excited taking videos. She tried to keep her smile on but deep down she wanted to fall into tears, especially after seeing Marley leaving.

Meanwhile Stan was there waiting for an answer, while Rose was processing her feelings. Her heart was telling her no but her mouth was saying yes. And somehow she was engaged and fighting her tears.

And even though she knew her relationship with Stan wasn't strong enough to make it through marriage and she knew she didn't love him enough to marry him yet she couldn't stand humiliating him.
If you knew Rose you would know it wasn't how she wanted her proposal to be, the desperate lover she was, she always dreamt of a small thing between just her and her significant other, she always imagined announcing it to her friends as if they didn't know, and crying from happiness. But the thought of "why am I not feeling like how I expect it to feel!" Didn't leave her for the night, at that moment all she craved was Marley's arms, a place of peace where nothing can affect her.

Once home and everybody's asleep, anew she went to the beach, thinking she'd be alone, she needed some alone time to think a bit and even though she really wanted to be with Marley she felt weird if she did.

Drained in her thoughts, thinking about every moment she spent with Stan from the moment they met till now, when she felt warm arms covering her, it was Marley! Of Course, it was him, it's always him, when things get dark and light disappears he was the one bringing it back "Are you okay?". At that moment she really wanted to lie to him and hide her sorrow but how could she?

"I guess!" She replied with a little voice, and he just knew she was lying. "Tell me, what's up?" "Do you think this is okay? Stan proposing to me, in a way I hate, not looking at me the whole night. Is that normal? Plus, it didn't feel honest but rather just him trying to make Astrid jealous or I don't know to be honest, the voices won't shut up!" She sounded hurt, overwhelmed and lost. "Look Rose, I get you! I know how you always wanted your proposal to be, and now after it happened in another way you're just maybe disappointed! And I get it, but if he makes you happy then just do it!" She paused for quite a long time before getting her to answer "You see the thing is I don't know and there is so much I can't say especially to you, like I shouldn't even be speaking about this to you in the first place" he looked a bit surprised after hearing what she said but he also understood he "You know what enough thinking for you tonight! Just let's enjoy each other's company and whatever will happen will happen!" "I love you too." She replied automatically, she put her head on his shoulder and fell asleep to his stories just like old times, she knew it was wrong and most of all her feelings for Marley never faded away.
