The sea had something Rose couldn't understand, it was the quietest, most comforting place for her. And with Marley it was better, the sound of waves, his open arms, his kisses and his words made the sea more special, better!
It was already late, everyone was tired, but Rose had to talk with Marley, she needed to do it, for good this time. So when everyone fell asleep, she took him to the beach leaving her fear of expressing herself behind her. She was hesitant, how couldn't she be! She didn't know what to say, should she speak or keep silent, after some minutes she finally had the courage to say "Marley! You have no idea how many nights I waited for you to come and ask me to run away with you, to be with you, to hear you say that you are truly in love with me, I imagined it all, where we'd go, what we could do! Everything! All you said earlier! I waited for it for years! But why now! Yes, I've been dating him for almost 2 years and I love him and you know that and yes, I didn't tell you at first, not because I was ashamed or something but because I know you, I know you will find something bad about him! But coming and telling me you love me now after all of these years! Why Marley! Why! I was okay with Stan! We were planning our future and now you come and tell me this! In front of him! After he proposed to me!" He was surprised, he had some fantasy in his head, she would kiss him and they will end up together that night, he looked at her and said "Because I love you and I can't live without you anymore! I know it's maybe selfish from me telling you this now, but seeing him proposing to you, that was the worst thing that I've witnessed in my life and if what I said made you or is making you feel something it means that maybe he is not the right one' he put his hand on her cheek and looked at her with loving eyes that made her heart melt and added 'having a guaranteed good future with him doesn't mean he is the one for you! Look at me in the eyes and tell me you don't miss being with me or you don't miss our nights out ending always at the beach smoking and sleeping in each together's arms! Tell me you are satisfied with him, and I'll leave you! Tell me you don't miss me and you never thought about what we had, tell you don't miss kissing me and I'll leave you and never bring this up ever again!" She remained frozen for some seconds and told him she had to leave, and while she was walking away, she knew her heart stayed there, she wished she could go back to kiss him and go back to how things were but once in front of her room her reality caught her.
His words remained on her brain. She knew she had to clear things in her head and with her boyfriend.
She was hesitating to go into the room, after all she was in a fight with her fiancée and plus with what happened, she really didn't want to argue but she also knew Stan is supposed to be asleep by that time. Once in the room she found Stan still awake, which wasn't really surprising, after an eventful night. "Are you okay?' He asked her while she was noticing he was still wearing his clothes and all sweaty. 'Where have you been?" He looked at her worried and confused, "I'm fine! I spoke with Marley then, I stayed alone at the beach to think! But what are you doing still awake!" She thought he was out thinking too but when she heard him saying these words: "I was with Astrid, I just got here!" As her anger got higher and higher, she was trying to stay calm but she had to react, she was aware that, since their break up they remain friends and she trusted Stan, she knew he will never do anything bad to her, after all he knows how bad it is to be let down for somebody else and maybe that's why Rose didn't want to leave him before, she was afraid to do the same thing his ex did to him, but what was he doing with her!
