I look down at the dog tag, soaking in what I had just seen.
"Amanda?"She clears her throat, opening her heavy eyelids and opened her crisping lips - ready to speak at any moment.
"Who's Amanda?""What has Hanz done to you, you poor thing! You've forgotten everything?! You're Amanda, Blane's friend."
I whisper, taking the hair out of her face and sitting her down beside me."I'm not the one you're looking for"
She tilts her head back, wheezing."You've got her name tag, so if you're not Amanda - then how did you get it?"
I question her, suspicious that she might have something to do with the kidnapping."I found it on the floor when Hanz took her upstairs into his private region of the tower. It's good silver and I could sell it for good money" She chuckles, clearly proud she holds such a useful item.
"You know where Amanda is and I'm pretty sure she would want her tag back" I hold my hand out, expecting the woman to hand over the chain.
"I've told you where you're precious Amanda is so bug off" she growls, turning to face the fall and closing her eyes, she didn't seem to be in the best of conditions.
I pull her to face me, taking her actions as an act of dis-respect
"No, I really need this----"
But there was no point in finishing my sentence. When I had turned her around..she wasn't breathing.I lay her down carefully, shut her eyelids and break the chain off her neck, leaving her peacefully lifeless body to stay. I well up, the salty tears irritating my eyes. I was never good at accepting death, however little or however long I knew them.
But now that I had almost-solid proof Amanda was alive, I had two objectives to get done before I could retreat back to the hut.
Get the cure.
Rescue Amanda.
