Summer xx

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
It's a cold and windy Sunday morning in New York. I jump out of bed and realise that tomorrow would be my last day of hell commonly known as university. Ha. I'm studying Business Administration at New York University (NYU) and tomorrow I'll write my last exam.

I make my way to the bathroom to wash my face, brush my teeth and basically make myself decent. Then I head to the kitchen to get started on breakfast. I decide to make pancakes because I'm hurrying to the library to get some (last minute) hours of work in. I leave some for Jamie because I know how much he enjoys my cooking. He's still fast asleep when I check his room, bless him, the angel. So I leave a sticky note on the fridge before I head out.

Looking around the quiet street as I get my morning Chai latte from a nearby café, I'm awestruck by the beauty of this place. Every time I leave my apartment, it hits me, it's like a constant record played in my head. I've lived here for almost four years and yet I'm still mesmerized by its beauty.

I'm lucky the library is only a ten to fifteen minute walk from my apartment. If not, I would most certainly wander off as I tend to do, looking for more buildings and blue skies to fill my camera roll with.
I clutch my stole tighter around me as a gust of wind whips up into my face; and take a sip from my cup as I reminisce about the time I've spent here and how this place is now imprinted on my heart.

It certainly has been a very interesting four years at NYU. The crazy ups and downs, but somehow I managed to get through it all. A massive part of that, is due to my best friend Jamie Walters, who is also studying business administration. We've been best friends since we were in high school and he practically raised me since my parents died when I was 14. He's a 6'3 wall of toned muscle but he's really a big softie once you get to know him. We also share an apartment but I might be on my own soon as Jamie's leaving for Australia to chase his dream job.

If only I could find a job, it would make graduating much less nerve wracking. I didn't want to sit on the couch waiting for a job while my savings were slowly dwindling away, but none of the firms I've written to have actually responded, which is great. Just great.

I better just focus on getting to the library and actually doing some work so I can have a better grasp of my content. At least with a good degree in hand I'm one step closer to finding a job.
