After my little dancing session, I gathered up all my courage and made my way to Anna's desk. As usual, she had a hateful glare, hot off the press just for me. Thanks, Anna! (Seriously, can I not catch a break?)

I have to be the bigger person once again, so I will VERY politely ask her for my induction packet. A fairly simple task no?

"Hey Anna" She rolls her eyes. I keep my calm. "Just wondering when I could get that induction packet? I didn't want to ask before - in case you were busy, but it's been two weeks and I'm really starting to need it now." I give her what I hope is a friendly smile.

She shoots me a scowl, "Look, Aaliyah - " "Alexandra" I quickly correct. "Whatever", her scowl intensifies. "You were right, I am busy, so if you don't mind, stop hounding me for that damn packet and just get on with it" At this point, I am almost at the end of my patience stick but I can try one more time before this bitch really gets it.

"Okay cool, since you're clearly quite busy," (she wasn't - she was literally playing a game on her phone) "is there anyone else I could get the packet from?"

Her eyes light up and her lips slowly curl into a smirk. "Well there is one other person, but I doubt you'd have any luck." giving me a once over.

"And who is that?" I ask with barely constrained annoyance.

"Mr. LaRoux" she replied, eyes dancing with mirth.

I was hoping she'd say that. "Well then", I say cooly "it looks like I'll be paying him a visit."

Leaving her in a state of shock, I abruptly turn away from her desk "Thanks Anna!" I call over my shoulder.

And start heading down the corridor for Nicolas' office, grumbling all the way. I give three quick raps on his door and wait for a response. Hearing a muffled "come in", I whisper a "dear Lord" and step in.

"Alexandra," he pipes up, "to what do I owe this visit?".

"Your receptionist", I answer dryly.

The smile slowly leaves his face "Oh God, what's she done now? She's chased away my last three business analysts, I was hoping she wouldn't get to you."

Does he think I'm frightened so easily? Adorable. "Not at all Mr. LaRoux, she seems to be quite busy and has told me to get my induction packet from you."

"Ah. Well, in that case," He gives it some thought, "I say to hell with the packet. You can just spend this week with me in my office and I'll help you settle in. If that's okay with you of course" He says with an almost, dare I say, nervous smile on his face.

I can feel myself starting to get giddy so I can only hope I'm keeping a calm exterior when I reply "Yeah, that sounds great" Great? Why did I say great? Who even says that? I shou-

"Alexandra?" I snap out of my reverie, damn I've done it again.

"Yes Mr. LaRoux" he looks at me pointedly and I realise my error. "Sorry, sorry" I say slightly embarrassed. "Yes, Nicolas".

"Better" he smiles. "So, should we get started?"

Nicolas and I have a really easy and effortless connection. We work well together and we're surprisingly efficient, considering how much time we spend laughing at each other.

We breezed through the induction packet in three days but he still insisted that I should spend Thursday and Friday in his office as well, 'just in case'. I roll my eyes. He knows good and well that there's no real reason I have to stay with him till the end of the week but honestly? I'm not complaining.
