Yesterday was a perfect day.

Nicolas and I spent an hour or two just cuddling and talking in my apartment before heading out.

We took a long stroll in my neighbourhood, holding hands, figuring each other out slowly and unhurriedly. We then took a cab to the upper east side, got some coffee and beignets - which had quickly become our signature food - and trailed off into Central Park where we relaxed against an oak tree and basked in the early autumn sunshine: eating, chatting and reading together.

As evening crept nearer and nearer, we made our way to the Loeb boathouse where Nicolas had already reserved a gondola to take us round the lake as we bundled up together under a thick blanket. The gondolier serenaded us softly as we watched the beauty of the park close in around us.

Our time together slowly rolled to a close and we found ourselves once more, standing face to face in front of my door.

The chemistry between us was palpable. You could almost taste it. We were supercharged and couldn't look away from each other. Nicolas had his hands running up and down my arms and playing with my fingers.
We said goodnight almost imperceptibly as he pulled me closer and placed a soft kiss to my forehead. Keeping him there before I lost my nerve, I quickly reached up and pressed a kiss to his cheek, leaving him looking stunned with his eyes glazing over. Giggling at his expression, I backed into my apartment, giving him a quick wave as he gathered his wits which were currently splattered all around him. As he got to his car, he pretended to grab the kiss I'd left on his cheek and placed it to his heart, causing me to swoon a bit, leaning against the door jamb.

Giving one final wave, he got into his car and pulled off and I closed my door, sagging against it.

Heading into work this morning, with a skip in my step and a smile on my face, I feel untouchable.

As I round the last corner to LaRoux industries I basically get run over by a truck.

Okay so slight exaggeration, it was a little girl who barrelled into me so quick I thought I would hack up a lung.

But she was SO CUTE, I didn't have it in me to feel even remotely upset.

Long statuesque legs and a mess of curly auburn hair pull her out of my way, apologies dripping from her lips.

Shaking my head, I let her know it was okay, smiling and waving goodbye to the little girl with the striking green eyes.

I settle in at my desk, making a note of the projects Nicolas and I need to go through together before I hear three confident raps at my door.

Smiling to myself, I call out "entrez!" knowing exactly who it is.

Nicolas comes into my office balancing some documents in the crook of his arm, two drinks in a cardboard drinks holder and a brown paper bag with our breakfast in it. Today was his turn.

Quickly standing up, I rush to him pulling the documents from his arm just so nothing drops. I reach for the drinks too but his eyes flash a warning to me with a stern glare.

I pull away from him widening my eyes and raising my busy hands in surrender.

Slightly shaking my head at his behaviour, I indulge in a particularly dramatic eye roll when he can't see me. I guess I'm just going to have to accept that he's just not going to let me lift a finger as long as he's around ever again. And as much as I want to relax and be taken care of, I can't not offer to help him. No?

Setting everything down on my desk, his arms immediately find my waist and pull me back into him. My back flush with his chest as he tucks his head into the crook of my neck. "Good morning gorgeous" he whispers before lightly peppering my neck with small kisses. Laughing at his antics I shake my head and go to pull away from him only to be met with a tightening of his arms and a pout settled on his face. "Nicolas" I say in a lilting tone, "I can see you're feeling extra playful today but we have a job to do, just incase you've forgotten" running my hands up his arms I feel his muscles contract under my touch.

"And you've forgotten to let me spoil you, so where do we go from here?" He retorts, eyebrows raised and sarcasm rolling off his tongue.

Laughing, I finally manage to break away and we both get seated, pulling out our sandwiches and sipping on our drinks.

We have only been working for 10 minutes before we hear a slight commotion taking place just beyond the walls of my office; which causes us to pause and glance quizzically out of my frosted glass doors. We can hear two women arguing furiously before my door slams open and in strides the same lady from before. Eyes blazing with controlled fire, and her hair sitting behind her forming a perfect halo of burning auburn.

Scrunching my face up in confusion, I go to ask what all the noise is about but stop short as I hear Nicolas whisper the one word he has refused to give information about despite his otherwise open book personality.

His eyes glossy, they run over her frame before settling on her eyes again. And he breathes out one word.

"Talia"
