"Come onnn," Maya drawled, crouched down at Y/n's feet with faux tears rolling down her cheeks. "It'll be fun! Plus, cute boys. We all could go for some cute boys, eh?"

Y/n rolled her eyes playfully, used to her roommate's thirst over the teenage males at the Garrison; she needed to raise her standards. "For the last time, Maya, I don't want to get drunk and kicked out of the Garrison." she placed her pencil down, closing her sketchbook. "That's probably the last thing I'd want to do."

The redhead puffed her cheeks out, sitting up and crossing her arms in defiance. "What, are you trying to 'not be like other girls' or something in hopes of a boy swooning over how mysterious you are?"

"You're disgusting. Hurry up and get ready for the party," Y/n said, throwing a piece of clothing into the girl's face as she spluttered from impact. "Oh, and for the record." Maya hummed in acknowledgement. "My ears and birthmarks make me mysterious enough." The other girl snickered at the comment, combing her hair back with a hair tie in her mouth.

As Maya got dressed, she mumbled from beneath the fabric as she wrestled on a top. "Y'know, I genuinely do want you to come, stupid. All this about boys is just talk, you know that."

The girl sighed, lounging back into her seat with a soft smile on her face. "I– I appreciate it, Maya. I just can't go– not tonight." Y/n absentmindedly fiddled with her necklace, the hairs on the back of her neck standing as she just couldn't pinpoint exactly what was getting on her nerves.

"Alright, whatever you say, Y/n," Maya grumbled, fitting on her heels and grabbing her purse. "How do I look?"

"Hot as always. Please don't bring a boy back to our dorm," she pleaded, mouth set into a grimace as she recalled last time.

The redhead made an L with her fingers, sticking a tongue out as she made her departure. "Love ya!"

"Love you too," Y/n mumbled as the automatic doors hissed shut.

The girl sighed, reopening her sketchbook and staring down at the alien symbols she's known all her life. She glossed two fingers over the sketches, eyebrows furrowed in frustration as her pendant began emitting a blue light.

"What are you trying to tell me, mom?" she mumbled under her breath as she screwed her eyes shut, begging and hoping for any sign. She let out a breath she wasn't aware she had been holding before her pendant burst with light, Y/n's mind immediately flooding with information. She gasped with amazement, light buzzing through the room as she cradled the necklace in her palms, her e/c eyes turning glossy. "Thanks, mom."

"Wh– Lance?"

"Y/n?"

The three halted in their tracks, gobsmack. Shaking them out of their stupor, sets of footsteps began approaching their position as the trio dived for cover.

"Aren't you supposed to be 'Little Miss Perfect'? What the heck are you doing sneaking out?" Lance whispered, an amused grin on his face.

"None of ya business, Lance. What the heck are you two doing?" Y/n retorted, playfully sneering at the Cuban whilst raising an eyebrow.

"Yeesh, sorry, lady. We're headed out for a boys night with Pidge; Iverson's request."

Hunk coughed under his breath. "Nope, we're on our way to get booted out of the Garrison once we're caught."

"Have some optimism, Hunk! It's not every day we get to–"

"Coast is clear, let's move," Y/n interrupted, navigating towards the fire exit to reach higher ground.
