05 | princesses don't cry

Elora shook Vena awake.

"What?" Vena grumbled.

"It's late, you need to get up," Elora said, crossing her arms.

"I don't wanna get up!" Vena whined.

"You must!" Elora insisted. Vena sighed and rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she forced herself awake.

"Why?" Vena frowned.

"We're going for a walk in the forest!" Elora exclaimed happily. Vena groaned. Vena got up. Elora brought her a new dress, then she herself went to change.

"Do you have a map?" Vena asked.

"Yes," Elora responded.

"Okay... where is it?"

"Um...

"Did you lose the map?"

"Apparently, I did."

"YOU LOST THE MAP?!"

"YES!"

"We're lost!"

"Really?!"

"Do you have a torch?"

"Nope."

"Why?!"

"Sorry! I didn't think we'd get lost."

"We go into the forest... at evening... when the sun is going to set... with no map... with no torch... AND YOU DIDN'T THINK WE'D GET LOST?!" Vena yelled.

"Oops?" Elora shrugged sheepishly. Vena groaned, tugging her hair.

"What in the world are you two doing out here?" A familiar voice asked.

"We could ask you the same thing," Vena responded, noticing the voice belonged to Caspian.

"But I asked first," Caspian responded smartly.

"We go lost," Elora explained.

"Lost?" Caspian chuckled.

"Don't laugh at me!" Elora whined.

"It is very funny," Vena smirked.

"Oh not you too!" Elora exclaimed. Vena and Caspian laughed. A pain arose in Elora's waist. She let out a whimper and fellt to the floor, clutching her side. Vena and Caspian immediately turned their attention to Elora. Caspian ran forward, kneeling down.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Fine," Elora whispered.

"Elora... you're bleeding," Vena stated, her eyes widening.

"What?! No..." Elora replied sarcastically. Tears welled in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She barely remembered her mother telling her when she was younger, princesses don't cry. The pain hurt her too much. Caspian was confused as too what to do, Vena was having a panic attack.

"Does anyone have something to wrap up this wound with?!" Elora exclaimed. Vena ripped off a piece of her dress. Elora undid the vest that was attached to her the skirt of her dress. She always wore pants under her dress, just in case. She untucked the shirt and lifted it slightly, showing the deep gash on the her waist. Vena's eyes widened.

"How the hell did you get this?" Vena asked, frowning.

"I don't know," Elora responded.

"You do not know how you have a horrible gash on your waist?" Caspian repeated, looking at Elora dumbfounded.

"I believe that's what I said," Elora replied. Vena rolled her eyes, these two are definitely gonna end up together. Vena wrapped the fabric tightly around the wound.

"Right, hopefully that'll do," Vena said, "We best be off now."

"Can you walk?" Caspian asked Elora.

"...I believe every human can do that," Elora stated. Vena face palmed.

"We're going now, nice meeting you Capsian," Vena smiled sarcastically. She gently helped Elora off the ground, letting Elora lean on her for support. Caspian rolled his eyes, knowing she was only trying to get under his skin. He hopped onto his horse, watching the two girls walk away. He sighed and shook his head before turning and making his way back to the castle he lived in.

"So let me get this straight... you have a horrible, deep gash on the your waist... and you have no idea where it came from? Like it just appeared?" Vena asked, tilting her head in confusion.

"That's exactly what I'm saying," Elora responded. Vena pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Riiiiight," Vena sighed. Elora smiled weakly, resting her head on the headboard of the bed.

"I'm going to sleep," Elora said, a muffled yawn leaving her.

"Good idea," Vena nodded. Vena turned on her side. A sudden feeling of disappointment washed over her. When she heard this wasn't on earth, she was kinda hoping to have to play hero and save this imaginary world. Or at least for their to be more drama, magic, princes, princesses, etc. She thought that maybe adventure awaited her. I mean, it's not everyday someone falls into a lake and resurfaces in another world, right?
