06 |if we have each other

Vena sat in her bed. Playing with a scrunched up piece of parchment. Thoughts of home and school returned to her.

' "Mummy! Look! A daisy!" Little Vena gasped.

"Go get it!" Her mother smiled. Vena ran over to the small field of daisies and picked one from the bush. She handed it to her mother. Her mother smiled and placed the daisy in her hair, tucking it behind her ear. Little Vena giggled happily. She ran through the small field, laughing and spinning around happily. Olivia watched from afar, watching her little sister run and nearly fall. She smiled to herself, vowing to keep her safe.'

Oh how Vena missed these days. She didn't know what happened to make her mother so sour. Maybe it was her father leaving? More memories followed, but these of school.

' Elaine watched the new girl from afar. She was seated alone with a muggle book in her hands. Her eyes were moving so fast over the words, she wondered how she managed to absorb the information.

"Hey girls," Elaine whispered.

"Yes?" Millie answered.

"Any of you know the name of the new girl?" Elaine asked.

"Nope," Isadora responded. Elaine  nodded and got out of her seat. She walked over to the new girl.

Vena looked up to saw a brunette approach her. How delightful.

"Hey, I'm Elaine Grey," the brunette introduced herself.

"Vena," she replied before looking back at her book.

"Why aren't you sitting with anyone? You've been here for a few weeks," Elaine frowned. Vena looked up from her book, surprised by the question.

"You're actually the first person to ask," Vena muttered, looking away from her.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that."

"It's fine."

"Why don't you come sit with me?" Elaine suggested.

"Alone? Or with you and you're friends?" Vena arched an eyebrow.

"I can introduce you to some people," Elaine shrugged.

"Sure... I guess?" Vena replied. Elaine beamed. Vena packed her book and followed.

"GIRLS!" Elaine yelled, causing Vena to flinch.

"WHAT?" A blonde girl yelled back.

"This is Vena. Vena these are, Althea, Millie, Alice and Isadora," Elaine explained. Vena forced a smile and waved, mumbling a inaudible 'hi'.  Althea and Millie waved. Alice smiled brightly and Isadora winked.

"Take a seat, we don't bite," Isadora said, gesturing to the seat beside Althea. Vena laughed and sat down, keeping my distance from Althea.

"Sooo, Vena... where you from?" Alice asked.

"I was born and raised in here. I'm actually half-english and half-french," Vena explained.

"That's cool!" Dorcas smiled.

"I guess..." Vena shrugged. Vena felt like she was unwelcome, intruding kind of. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. '

Vena remembered the day she met that group. She ended up drifting apart from them. They were too toxic and vile for her. Out of boredom, she thought of her dream world.

' - Lives in a cottage
- Skilled archer
- Bow and arrow, dagger
- Hunter
- Loves dancing in the rain
- Finds out she is Queen of weather
- Weather and shadow manipulation '

She remembered wishing upon a star for this to be true. She couldn't bring herself to write about it. Probably because it would hurt her too much. Oneiraxtia isn't the best thing in the world. It sucks. When you can't tell whether or not something is fantasy it annoys you terribly. Vena looked up to see Elora standing in front of her, her hands on her hips.

"I've been calling your name, for the past... fifteen minutes," Elora said.

"My mistake," Vena replied.

"What're you thinking of?" Elora asked, sitting cross-legged on the floor.

"Life," Vena sighed.

"Sucks doesn't it?" Vena frowned.

"If we have each other then I think we'll be fine," Elora smiled.

"If we have each other," Vena repeated with a small smile.

"I don't think I recall you telling me how you came to Narnia."

"Well, it's kind of funny. I fell into a lake and resurfaced here. Caspian found my unconscious body and pulled me out. I teased him a bit and then I left the next day. I found you," Vena shrugged with a small laugh. Elora laughed.

"That's stranger than how the Kings and Queens of Old showed up. It was something like... Spare Oom and War Drobe, based on what I remember," Elora said.

"You mean Spare room and a wardrobe?" Vena frowned.

"Yup! That's what I said..." Elora responded.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night," Vena sighed.
