Vena and Elora walked out of the library. Elora put her cloak back on and Vena used her cloak to hide the book. The two girls conversed as they walked out of the castle. Elora looked behind her and accidentally trips. She falls flat on her face, using the palms of her hands to hold her up and not hit her nose. Vena mentally groaned and cursed. Elora looked up, to see that she had broken a large vase. She had small scratches all over her face and arms that were bleeding from the shards of glass that had fallen on her.
"Run," Elora whispered as she got up. Elora and Vena sprinted through the halls of the castle, hearing footsteps behind them. The two girls ran as fast as they possibly could. Miraz had heard them, Caspian tried to distract Miraz. He was successful for a good five minutes before glaring at Caspian and ordering guards to search the castle for the cause of the sound.
"Uncle, you are being ridiculous! It must have been one of the chefs in the kitchen!" Caspian argued.
"How exactly would the kitchens make such a sound?" Miraz questioned, arching an eyebrow.
"They must have dropped a pan! They must be very anxious for the upcoming ball..." Caspian tried.
"And they are anxious?" Miraz asked.
"Yes..." Caspian nodded.
"So they are clumsy?" Miraz added.
"Most likely," Caspian replied. Miraz sighed.
"Call for the guards," Miraz ordered. Glozelle nodded, running of to do as told. Guards ran after Vena and Elora, chasing after them like a cat chases a mouse. Vena's heart was beating out of her chest. Elora's anxiety awakened, she was hyperventilating whilst running, that didn't go together at all. Tears had welled in Elora's eyes as she ran, this wasn't how she planned this to go. The two girls made it outside and hid behind a bush in the garden. Guards searched the place with their swords in front of them and their crossbows loaded. Elora fired an arrow at one of them, hitting the soldier in the chest. They weren't dressed in full armor, so it was easier to kill them. Vena took her aim, managing to kill another soldier. Like the cowards they are, the Telmarine soldiers panicked because of the arrows that shot out of mid air. They started running back into the castle, to tell Miraz about the arrows flying out of mid air. Elora and Vena started running, Glozella caught sight of them and followed. He chased them around the small backyard. Elora and Vena split up, making it harder for him. Vena had no choice then to run up the stairs of a tower, finding Elora already there. Elora was using a dagger she found somewhere to fight off the Telmarine. It was hard against the large blade of the sword, but she managed also using her limbs to fight. It was hard to say the least.
Caspian was locked in his room, only hoping that Elora and Vena were safe. Miraz had locked him inside, with nothing to do. He couldn't see much of what was happening outside, since it was so dark.
Vena continued fighting the Telmarine soldier as she climbed the steps of the tower. It was strange and scary to her, she had never fought before. It was also dark on the staircase, so she tried to be as careful as possible. Once she got to the top of the tower, she managed to kill the soldier with an arrow. As she hit him, she slipped off the edge of the tower. She grabbed onto the railing, holding on for dear life. Everything flashed before her eyes. Memories, laughter, cries, joy, sadness, pain, anger, all of it. She realised how amazing her life used to be and how useless it was now. So it was true. She had made the mistake of falling into the arms of depression. It was no lie that she had never considered killing herself. She always thought she was useless and not needed. Her time in Narnia taught her many things. She healed a bit. But there was always a scar she couldn't reverse. It hurt too much for her. She loved Elora, dearly, and she hated the thought of leaving her. Vena knew she would have to return to England at some point but she didn't want to. She loved Narnia, she felt a strong connection to it and to Elora. But Vena genuinely thought her time was up. The sands of time for her were running low. She let go of the railing, knowing that this was the end for her, but a hand clasped around hers, preventing her from falling.
