Thebes, city of the living, crown jewel of Pharaoh Seti the First. Home of Imhotep, Pharaoh's high priest, keeper of the dead. Birthplace of Aja-Nenet, the Pharaoh's first daughter. Under the protection of Amun, leader of the Medjai.
Imhotep and Aja-Nenet were betrothed, to be married on her 28th birthday. But the princess's heart lay with another, Amun. And for their love, they were willing to risk life itself.
Amun and Aja-Nenet loved in secret, dreading the day when she would have to be married, until they came up with a plan. They were to run away together the night before her birthday, starting their lives anew far away.
But Imhotep found out about this plan and was infuriated that Amun was taking away his soon to be bride. And so, on the night before Aja-Nenet's birthday, Imhotep snuck into her room and killed her. If he couldn't have her, no man could.
Amun came up to Aja-Nenet's room to take her to his horse so they may run away, but saw her lifeless body on the floor. Amun attacked Imhotep, but failed as he was stabbed in the heart. The rest of the Medjai came up to the room and apprehended Imhotep, taking him away to face the ultimate punishment.
Imhotep was condemned to endure the Hom-Dai, the worst of all ancient curses, one so horrible it had never before been bestowed. He was to remain sealed inside his sarcophagus, the undead for all of eternity. The Medjai would never allow him to be released, for he would arise a walking disease, a plague upon mankind, an unholy flesh-eater with the strength of ages, power over the sands and the glory of invincibility.

Propping your musket on the time-worn stone wall, you watched as the colonel of your platoon turned tail and ran from the incoming swarm of enemies.
"Looks like you've been promoted." You slid your eyes over to your brother, cynicism dripping from your tone.
Rick sighed, turning back to the task at hand. "Prenez vos positions! Steady!" He ordered.
You rolled your shoulders back at the command, adjusting your posture while steeling yourself for the battle ahead.
No one would've guessed your little desert excursion would turn so bloody so fast. Especially since it was supposed to be a peaceful one.
The gods had a sense of humor, all right.
A shitty one.
"You're with me on this, right?" Rick asked, his eyes trained on the horde of black robed marauders.
