Everything was a blur.

Harlow was there with the doctor.

I watched as he checked Fedyor's vitals and glanced up at the emperor with a sorrowful look.

"Your Majesty."

Fedyor.

I cradled his head and kissed his freezing cheeks.

"Let them deal with him."

Someone pulled my shoulders, but as I tugged on Fedyor's hand, one of his rings he always wore, fell off into my palm.

Someone helped me stand, and supported me as I journeyed back to my bedchambers.

No.

Fedyor must come with me.

He was fine.

He is fine.

"Renata, please listen to me."

A man with black hair and emerald eyes enters my view, with pleading eyes.

"I need you to rest up, to get better."

I feel numb.

Can I still move?

I try moving my arm, which results in me falling back onto my bed. The black haired man tucks me in and I fall asleep.

...

"Your majesty."

I see an angel walking towards me. He has wings the colour of snow that match his hair and his electric eyes.

Fedyor?

The angel crouches infront of me and lifts my chin to look at him.

"Be strong. There will be many struggles in the future."

"Fe-Fedyor, what-?"

He kisses my lips to silence me, and as I go to run my hand through his hair, the angel is already gone.

...

"No!"

My bedchambers are empty as I clutch my blankets to my chest, my heart pounding, going as fast as a racehorse.

The sky outside is dark, but the horizon is getting lighter. Dawn, maybe?

I sigh and ring for my ladies-in-waiting and they both come in looking remorse and both very quiet.

I need to get dressed so I can sort things out. I don't remember my dream, but I know it rattled me.

My hands shake as I slide into a black long dress with elbow length sleeves that fan out onto peasant sleeves.

My ladies-in-waiting exchange a glance when they think I didn't see.

"What is it?" I asked quietly.

Lady Mayalen clears her throat and steps forward with a curtsy.

"His Majesty has planned to ship the Northern Ambassadors body back to the North, so they can dispose of them properly."

I clench my fists. How dare he make arrangements without me? After what he did?

I step away from my mirror and face my servants.

"You have the day off. Spend it wisely."

They both nod and exit my room.

As I wait a few minutes for them to depart, I try pushing down the waves of sadness.

But it's impossible.
