She was pregnant.

She was pregnant.

She was pregnant.

How could this be?!

I raced to the awaiting carriage in the setting darkness, my four legs carrying me at great speed.

I slipped under the wall, having had a small hole dug and continued through the forest, slowing slightly.

She told me she couldnt get pregnant.

Gods...

I changed form, staggering slightly, pulling the cloak around myself that had shifted with me.

The sound of anxious horses made my ears sharpen and I quickly strode towards the sound, finding my carriage.

Getting into it, I had one thought in my mind.

By the end of the year, the North would bow to the Eastern Empire.

____________

"Dankish, we need to get up."

He groaned, rolling onto his back and rubbing his eyes.

"Very well, my love. You're in charge."

I giggled, getting out of the bed and feeling bile churn in my stomach.

I pushed it away as I got changed in a baby blue loose dress with long, peasant sleeves.

Dankish slipped into a white button up with black woolen trousers.

I smiled as he offered his arm to me and we headed down to breakfast, and ate.

After we were done, I went to my office, where a few messengers awaited me, holding my requested items.

Placing them on my desk, I had everything except the Blood of an Enemy.

I pushed it from my mind and quickly went up to Illies tower, showing her my ingredients, eager to get started.

She brewed the potion in her cauldron and looked to me for the last ingredient.

I chewed my fingernail nervously.

"One of my enemies is dead and the other is the emperor," I told her, feeling a cuticle and peeling it, watching it grow red and a drop of blood seep out.

Illie sighed. "Your majesty, ye need that ingredient. It's the most important of the whole potion, for it shows dominance and power."

I sighed as I flicked my blood from my finger and watched it land in the potion.

It shimmered silver then turned into a golden colour. Illies eyes grew wide.

"What does that mean?" I asked her.

"You're your own enemy."

I stared at her as she measured out the potion into a goblet and handed it to me.

I watched the golden liquid swish about in the goblet, before I took a long sip of it, coughing as it felt like it was burning my insides.

I fell to all fours, feeling my insides being cooked. My throat felt like a hot iron was stuck down it. Even my hands were searing.

Illie stood nearby, cleaning up the potion as the feeling faded and I got up.

"You should be a Dasher now. You just need to focus on a powerful emotion and channel the energy."

I nodded as I coughed.

"Thank you."

Her back was turned as she sighed.

"Just dont make me regret it."

Her words confused me, but I left.
