I sat on the bed as Dankish leaned over me, but as soon as I uttered those words it only took him a moment to spring into action.

"Get dressed." He demanded as he rang for his servant.

My black dress was torn, so I simply wore the backup I brought and slid my white coat over it, quickly brushing my hair.

Barvoscha waited for me at the door, already dressed, and as I strode over, he took ahold of my shoulder and guided me down the empty halls, the silence being puntured by our quick procession.

Outside, the carriage waited for us and Dankish shoved me in.

"Stop for nothing." I heard him growl at the driver.

Dankish had barely closed the door before the carriage was off, at a efficient pace, bumping along.

My stomach was churning. Harlow would cause another war? Did he not learn from the Great War years ago? And the Northern side was on the losing side back then, but would that change with my presence?

I heard Dankish sigh and watched him lean back in the seat.

"What a mess."

I got up and sat on his side, taking ahold of his large hand.

"I'm sorry."

He chuckled. "Sweetness, you can't control a monster."

I felt tears building up behind my eyes. "B-but I should hav-"

"You should have nothing" he said, cutting me off. "You are not responsible for that pyscotic man or his actions."

Barvoscha's black eyes were piercing mine as he gazed at me.

Gods.

I loved this man.

I didn't need to think as I sat up and took ahold of his chin and kissed him. He reciprocated my kiss and ran a hand through my hair.

"I love you."

Dankish blushed in the moonlight shining through the carriage window before he pulled me into a hug and kissed my neck.

"You cannot begin to comprehend how much those words mean." He growled against me, his hot breath on my bare neck.

My hand was running through his hair. "But I do. And I mean it."

I heard the Northern King chuckle as he nipped my ear. "Careful, love. I may fall even harder for you."

But I wouldn't have minded that.

Amid the chaos of the new war and the memories of Harlow from the night before, I finally felt at ease with this man.

The carriage pulled up to the Northern castle with ease, coming to an abrupt halt.

Dankish cleared his throat as he buttoned up his shirt hastily.

"I would ask you to keep quiet about our trip, if you please."

I smirked as I pulled my coat back on. This man had made me warm enough to take it off.

"Of course. Why would I tell people about our fun times? And who would I tell?"

He smirked and leaned over to kiss me briefly before putting on an angry face and stepping out of the carriage.

I sighed and stepped after him.

A group of townspeople, servants and what I assumed were nobles were standing outside the carriage watching Barvoscha as he spoke.
