Best Birthday ever

Vance had his 14th birthday, and he enjoyed it as much as he could with Marie instead of his family, and he might've had the best night ever.

His birthday was on the weekend luckily, and Marie had hers a month before.

She even went as far to but something for him. It was a ring, and she also drew him a drawing of himself.

"Hey, V." She smiled at him and held the box out to him. She had to come late at night because her mom didn't want her to leave, but here she was.

"Oh.. you- you didn't have to get me anything.." he said, sounding shocked but taking the box.

"I wanted to. It's small, but.."

"No- no- it's fine, thank you." He looked up at her, then at the box.

He swore he wouldn't cry on his birthday, or at all in front of her. But no one has actually given him something, other than her last year and this year. That was it. Not even his own parents, in fact, his parents weren't home when he woke up.

"Oh! And my mom insisted on getting you something as well, she said '!Dale esto por mí!' And handed me this."

She handed him a box of chocolates, he smiled at her again.

"Tell her I said thank you."

"I will, but enough about my mom, open up your gift!"

He opened up the box slowly, treasuring the moment.

"Oh- Marie- you- you didn't have to.." he took out the ring and looked at the drawing, it was pretty realistic and realized it must've taken a while.

"I did."

"Thank you.." he was speechless, and if he wasn't outside where anyone in the school could see him (he would beat them up if they said anything either way) he would've hugged her, literally the tightest hug ever.

"Now, come on, we can go to my house and watch a couple of movies or something. My moms doing an overnight, and Robin is at his friends for the night."

He shrugged and they walked to her house.

"So.. how are your grades?" She asked him.

"Uh, they're fine." He lied, he didn't wanna worry or stress her out. He was definitely lying, because they were horrible. He felt bad, like he failed her or something.

"Good." She smiled, happy they would hopefully pass middle school together.

"Yeah."

They reached her house, and she opened the door for him. He walked in (making sure to take his shoes off)

Then, they went into her room. She sat on her bed and he sat next to her.

"So, what do you wanna watch?"

"The exorcist." He shrugged, he really loved horror movies.

"Okay." She turned it on and they both got under the covers.

They stayed quiet, both watching the movie. It was dark outside now. the movie ended and he felt her pressing up against him.

When he looked over to her, he saw that she was sleeping peacefully. She held onto his arm and was right next to him. Why she was holding onto his arm? He had no clue. Maybe she mistook it for a pillow or was having a dream.

He stayed still, wondering if he should wake her up, but he didn't.

He relaxed after a while, he moved around to make himself comfortable as well.

He didn't wanna fall asleep, and wanted to treasure this. But being hugged, and loved like this was way too comforting for him.

So, he fell asleep as well. He didn't mean to, and he would be mad at himself for it in the morning, but her arms just felt so comforting around him.

He indeed was mad at himself for it in the morning. He was meant to be Vance fucking Hopper, the boy everyone feared, not someone who was soft and loved to cuddle.

He woke up first, he got up, carefully removing her arm from his and went in the bathroom.

He looked in the mirror, he didn't know what to do.

"Vance?" Marie knocked on the door, stretching outside of it.

"What do you want?"

"I was just wondering if your okay, I'm sorry for falling asleep on your yesterday. I was tired."

He couldn't stay mad at her for long. That was his weakness.

He sighed and opened the door.

"It's fine."

"Look, if you wanna leave that's fine, I understand."

"No. Can I ask you something?" He sat down on her bed, and she sat across from him.

"Ask away."

"Would you maybe wanna go out with me?" He straightens his spine out and sat straight.

Her jaw practically dropped.

"Uh- like- like on a date?"

"Yeah..? It's fine if not-"

"Yeah! Yeah! Of course I would. I would..." she took a deep breath "I would love to."

He smiled slightly "Alright."

"We should probably go to school."

"What? No, fuck school. We could just skip today, just tell your mom you didn't feel good."his face fell.

"Hm.. alright." She sighed.

He chuckled "Now, what do you say we go out on a walk?"

"Does this walk happen to involve you beating someone's ass and then going to jail again?"

"Maybe. But He deserved it." He defended.

"Alright, alright, I'm not judging." She held her hands up in defense.

"He said my drumming was shit." He huffed.

"It's not, it's not. Your shows with your band are always enjoyable."

He smiled "I know. I'm just too good."
