Brendon's POV.

It was 5am, and I haven't been to sleep yet.

Laying here with Emerson, I've been mainly focused on her breathing. She took a lot of two highly addicted substances, and I didn't need her heart giving out on her while I slept.

She's already almost died once on this trip, don't need that shit happening again.

I know when she wakes up she's going to be grumpy as fuck. Cocaine has that effect on people, even people like me who would take it everyday. It fucks with your emotions completely. Makes you somebody your not.

And unfortunately that's the person she met when she met me.

I'm really not that big of an ass. Sure I make my snarky remarks, sure I fuck around with people, but when someone truly makes me happy, I like to think im a good person.

And lately, Emerson has been making me happy.

Sure, she's pissed me off. Many times actually. And this last stunt she pulled really ticked me off, which I'll make sure she hears about it eventually, but right now

Right now she just looked so beautiful.

So peaceful.

Her face wasn't as pale as before, but her cheeks looked a bit hollow. Her long lashes flittered, her breathing seemed shallow, but deep.

Taking a good look at her, she may have had some similarities of Sarah, but she looked completely different. Her long black hair I believe is what reminded me of Sarah after all. But her nose, the freckles that lined all around it, the little scrunch she would do when she smiled.

Oh my god, her smile.

Her big lips went smaller when she smiled, she had a small gap in between her teeth, almost childlike. It was tiny, but it added to her features.

She begins to rustle in the sheets, pulling her knees to her chest, sighing a big sigh, her eyes flutter open, she looks around, and once her eyes land on mine, she lays back down.

"You okay?" I whisper.

"Yeah," she answers groggily, "my head hurts."

"Here," I get up from the bed to head to the kitchen, grabbing the bottle of water I know she will need, then go to her bags on the floor, "do you have any medicine in these bags?"

"Yeah, I'll grab it."

"No, lay down," I demand, "which bag?"

She sits up a bit, but stays in bed, crossing her legs under her, "that one." She points.

I grab some aspirin and bring it over along with the water. I hand her the pills and open the water, she pops them back and takes the bottle, chugging it down almost completely.

"Thanks." She whispers.

"You're welcome."

We lay back down, not needing to be up for another few hours, maybe I could get some sleep now. Our next stop was Phoenix, then Vegas. It was almost time for the wedding.

"Try to get some sleep," she mumbles, "I can tell you haven't slept."

I get myself comfy in the bed, lying on my back and staring at the white popcorn ceiling. I hear her breaths become deeper, knowing she had fallen back asleep.

I close my own eyes, drifting off to my much needed sleep.

Emerson's POV.

Why did I do this to myself?

Sitting up, the sun was shining brightly into the room, my throat was in pain, but my head didn't hurt as bad anymore.

I look over to Brendon, he looked like a little kitten, it honestly made me laugh a bit. His body language awake is wayyyyy different then when he is asleep.

He was always so tense, but when he sleeps, his body just goes completely soft.

I grab my phone, checking to see the time, I saw I had a missed call from my mom, I get out of bed and head to the balcony, opening the door to the freezing air. It was now late march, but it was still cold here. I'm honestly surprised my allergies haven't killed me yet with all the weather changes. I get on my phone again and call her number back.

"I'm sorry do I know this number?" She snarks into the phone. I chuckle a bit.

"I'm sorry, I know I haven't been the best at this."

"It's fine honey," she giggles a bit "guess what?"

"Uh, what?"

"I am finally going to see Jimmy!"

Confused, I reply, "umm how?"

"When you guys come to Vegas!"

"Oh yeah!" I smile, "we will be there a few days, are you coming to the wedding?"

She sighs, "he invited me, but I can't get off work that night, but the next day him and I will be going out!"

"I'm really happy for you mom."

"Thanks honey," she pauses, "how are you doing?"

I couldn't tell her what I did last night, if I did she would literally kill me, I just needed to keep my cool the best way I could.

"I'm okay," I sigh, "after the show last night we uh-" I hear footsteps behind me, my eyes meeting Brendon's, who stared at my phone, "yeah sorry last night we went for some drinks, so I think I'm hungover."

Brendon laughs at this, he rests his shoulder on the wall and looks at me, motioning for me to continue, a smirk on his mouth.

"Well it sounds like you're having fun." She says.

"Yep," I lie, "it's been a blast."

"Good, alright honey I gotta go, I love you, and don't be a stranger!"

"Okay mom, love you, I'm sorry I won't!" Hanging up the phone, Brendon's smirk turns into a low chuckle.

"Drunk huh?"

"Shut it," I roll my eyes, "if she knew the truth I would be dead. "

"Well you almost died once on this trip, so if it isn't her it's your decisions you make."

"Hey now," I defend, "I made a dumb mistake, you did it all the time, I just needed a moment to myself I guess."

"Yeah, right." He scoffs, "well you won't be doing it again as long as I'm around, trust me on that."

"Yes sir." I salute to him, making him grin a bit.

"Come on inside," he motions, "it's freezing out here."

We head back into the warmth of the room, I throw myself into the bed, shivering under the covers. Brendon sits on the edge, pulling his phone out, then his jaw drops.

"What?" I ask, I sit up and make my way toward him, my knees hitting  his own as I get close, my head begins to hurt as we stare at the screen.

Kade was on the news.

And his body has been found.
