Elvish

Dark Speeh

Khuzdul

I wake up the next morning, and go outside of Bilbo's house. I see Thunder waiting there. I grab by weapons and sharpen my sword, Gardil. Slowly, all the dwarves wake up and come out. They all board their ponies as I notice Bilbo's not there. I shake my head still having a feeling that he might come. Finally, Gandalf comes out of the house and boards his horse. He grabs his staff and we head out of the Shire. I put my hood back up so no one sees my face.

"You do realize I can also read the map, dont you?" I ask Gandalf in elvish so the dwarves do not understand.

"Of course I do, but I'm planning something,"  he replies winking, and goes up ahead as I shake my head amused.

"I bet Mr. Boggins won't show up!" Kili exclaims on top of his pony. I scowl at him.

"Well, I bet he will," I say and ride out near Gandalf.

The Company is trotting down a dirt road, leaving the Shire. The dwarves are mounted on ponies, their luggage tied behind them. As they ride, most exchange sour words about Bilbo as I scowl at them. Just as we near the exit out of the Shire, I hear some rustling behind us. I come to a halt and smirk. The other dwarves look at me in confusion but then another voice shows up.

"Wait!" Bilbo rushes down the road, panting behind us. Gandalf and the dwarves stop their horses and turn to see Bilbo. He waves the contract above his head, grinning. "I signed it!" He hands the contract over to Balin, who inspects it with a pair of eyeglasses.

"Everything appears to be in order. Welcome, Master Baggins, to the company of Thorin Oakenshield," Balin says after scanning the contract.  The dwarves give roaring applause.Thorin looks thoroughly unimpressed and I roll my eyes at him.

"Give him a pony," The Heir of Durin says.

"No, no, that won't be necessary, I'm sure I can keep up on foot. I've done my fair share of walking holidays, you know. I even got as far as Frogmorton once!" Bilbo cries. Kili and Fili ride alongside Bilbo and hoist him upwards.

Bilbo rides his pony, glaring down at the animal and shriveling up his nose. Suddenly, Bilbo sneezes loudly. "Oh, all this horse hair. I'm having a reaction," he says and I snigger. He searches in his pocket for something. Unable to find it, he looks up in panic. "Wait! Wait! Stop! We have to turn around!" he exclaims as the entire company comes to a halt.

"My dear Bilbo, what on earth is the matter?" Mithrandir asks, irritated.

"I forgot my handkerchief!" From the front of the line, Fili tears a strip of cloth from his shirt. He tosses it to Bilbo.

"Here, use this!" Bilbo catches the rag and looks at it in disgust. I glare at Fili's back and than take out a clean elvish handkerchief from my bag. I gently tap Bilbo's shoulder while he is still on the pony. He looks behind startled.

"Here, this is an elvish handkerchief. I haven't ever used it. You can have it," I say and hand him the handkerchief that has beautiful rose patters on top it, made with linen and cotton.

"N-no, I p-possibly couldn't!" he replies stuttering. I just smile at him reassuringly and hand him the handkerchief.

"Move on!" Thorin yells. The dwarves laugh, resuming their journey. The Company travels through vast, rolling hills and plains. Forests are visible in the distance, darkness creeping between the trees.

"You'll have to manage without pocket-handkerchiefs and a good many other things, Bilbo Baggins, before we reach our journey's end. You were born to the rolling hills and little rivers of the Shire, but home is now behind you; the world is ahead," Mithrandir tells Bilbo. I go pat his head and Thunder gallops to the front.
