''Wedding''

''I got invited as a bridesmaid.'' sabi ko kay Javier isang araw nang sunduin niya ako sa trabaho.

''Monterroso's wedding?''

''Yup! Are you invited as well?''

He nodded. ''Our family is invited.''

Right! The Monterroso family is a well known elite here in Manila, na mula rin sa Santa Monica. Paniguradong kilala ang mga De Leon. While the bride is one of our family's friends. When she asked me if I could be one of the bridesmaids, I gladly accepted it.

I fixed my seatbelt. After, I glanced at Javier when he did not start the car yet. He looked at me with his forehead creased like he was waiting for something.

I arched my eyebrows. ''Why? What is it?''

''You forgot my kiss.'' sabi niya at siya na mismo ang lumapit para dampian ng halik ang aking pisngi. ''There, I'm better.''

The side of my lips curled into a smile when he did that. He always tells me he's better when we see each other. It's been months since we got back together. We always see each other now, almost every other day actually.

''Sorry,'' I cutely made a face. ''I was pretty preoccupied with being a bridesmaid.''

''You seem excited.''

''I like things like this!''

Javier smiled at my reaction. He started the engine and would hold my hand from time to time.

''It's already next month though. It's a bit of a rush so they needed to schedule us for a fitting right away.''

''When are you scheduled?''

''On Wednesday.''

''I'll try to delay my travel and come with you.'' banayad niyang sabi pagkatapos akong linungin.

Javier will go home to their mansion in Santa Monica. Madalas ang uwi niya nitong mga nakaraang buwan, at mas nagtatagal siya. Siguro sa isang buwan ay ilang beses siyang umuwi. I understand how much he is needed there.

Umiling ako. ''You don't have to! There will be other bridemaids so I'll be fine.''

''But I want to go with you.''

Mas lalo akong napangiti. Pero naisip din na baka maging awkward iyon dahil baka puro kami babae tapos sumama pa siya. When I told him that, he said he can wait for me in the car. Mas lalo tuloy akong nagpumulit na huwag na siyang sumama.

''It'll take your time. Saglit lang naman ako. You don't have to delay your travel for that!''

Tahimik siya kaya bumaling ako ng tingin. Mukhang napapayag na.

''Okay?'' I asked again, urging him to agree with me.

''Let's date after your fitting.'' he said instead.

Umirap ako at humalukipkip. ''That's unfair!''

Narinig ko ang mahina niyang tawa kaya mas lalo akong napairap.

''You're bribing me with a date. You know I won't be able to reject that!''

Javier smirked. ''It's a date then?''

''Tss.''

I filed a leave for Wednesday. Kaya naman noong Tuesday ay mas marami akong ginawa para pagbalik ko ay hindi ito matambak.
