''Boyfriend''

My annoyance at Carlos did not even fade a percent remembering all he did last time, in those meetings where Javier is also present. That's why I slammed my bag on his chest, when I saw him on our usual brunch with their family.

''What the hell was that for?'' Carlos growled at me.

''Tss.'' I rolled my eyes and flipped my hair and I walked past him.

''Vernaise!''

Rinig ko ang galit sa kanyang boses habang sinusundan ako. When I saw Apollo, tila ba nagbukas ang langit at nakakita ako ng liwanag. I immediately went to his side.

''Your cousin.'' I mumbled.

He nodded at me. That was enough for him to understand what I was trying to say. Pareho kaming napalingon nang dumating si Carlos. He wasn't raging mad but he looked really annoyed.

''You even dare hide in your shining knight, huh?''

''Stop it.'' Apollo said in a hard and serious tone. ''Stop messing with her if you don't want Javier to make you regret everything you are doing.''

''That bastard is already doing that. If my patience runs out, he's the one who's going to regret everything he is doing right now.''

Nangunot ang noo ko sa sinabi ni Carlos. I looked at him with confusion. He only raised an eyebrow at me, after a while he left, ignoring us.

''What was that about?'' I asked Apollo.

He only shrugged his shoulders. It got me thinking, even when we eventually went to the long table for our brunch.

''Vernaise, how are you? And how are you at work?''

Ngumiti ako kay Senyora nang tanungin iyon. ''I'm doing great, Senyora. I enjoy my work, too.''

''I wanted Vernaise to transfer immediately and learn about our own, pero mas gusto niya muna magsimula sa pinakaibaba.'' si Daddy.

''And I think that's great. She'll be able to know and experience how every position works and it's importance to one's company in leading it to success.'' Senyora said. Ngumiti ako lalo. ''Si Carlos ay ganon din. He didn't want to, but he assumed the position since Maxwell wanted to focus more on Levana.'' she then smiled at me with curiosity. ''What about you Vernaise? Is getting married and settling down has already crossed your mind?''

Daddy laughed at the question. ''Wala pa, wala pang boyfriend si Sven.''

''I have a boyfriend po.'' agap ko.

The table fell silent. Mukhang si Carlos lamang ang tuwang-tuwa at hindi mapigilang tumawa. I glared at him but he can't really control himself. He probably realized who I was talking about for him to react this way. A De Leon. Hindi niya lamang mabanggit dahil paniguradong mauungkit din ang nangyari sa kanya.

''You have Sven?'' si Daddy na hindi ata makapaniwala.

I nodded.

Hindi tutol ang aking mga magulang sa mga bagay na ito. My mother was even the one who encourage me to go out and experience love. My father doesn't like the idea but he never opposed something that. When I first introduced my boyfriend back when I was still in school, he was just calm about it. Pero kapag nalalaman niyang wala na kami at may mga bagong manliligaw ako, tsaka niya hindi pinapapasok sa bahay ang mga iyon.

''Who's your boyfriend, Sven?'' pauwi na kami nang tinanong iyon ni Daddy. ''Is it a colleague of yours?''

''Hindi, Dad.''
