Chapter 3
''De Leon's''My father was so enraged that he brought me back to Manila the next day even though we still have a few days left before the summer ends. My mother was worried but not as intense as my father. He was worried and beyond furious that nothing can cool it down. He thought something bad happened to me. The only thing that appease him was to go back to Manila.
Lolo was a bit disappointed as well. I was gone for half an hour. I didn't know it was that long, though. We left the party right after they saw me. He thought it'll be my chance to meet his favorite De Leon, Javier de Leon. And now he thinks we lost that chance.
But I feel like I already met Javier. I'm not so sure, though. But my guts are telling me that, that man who helped me and led me to his room, is not other than the mighty Javier de Leon himself.
He led me inside their Mansion. He has a room in there. He wears arrogance and pride like it's his favorite clothes. A thing that I knew a De Leon carry. And someone called Javier's name upstairs where I exactly left that man to be with my family. Remembering that short encounter, I just couldn't let myself not to believe that he is Javier.
And I could still add up a lot of things that point him as Javier, but that would be wasting time.
It has been years and here I am still wondering why he didn't told me that he is Javier. Not that he is obliged to tell me his name. But when we talked about my supposed gift to Javier. Why did he speak like we're talking about a different person when the truth is... it's him we are talking about? Is there a need to hide himself?
Javier. Javier. Javier. Why can't I let you out of my mind?
When I stepped out of the car, the wind blew so hard that my hair almost flew everywhere. I tiled my head a little bit to get a glimpse of the scorching sun. I had my wayfarer sunglasses on so it didn't hurt my eye. I won't be that stupid.
''No funny business this time, Sven.'' I heard the hard voice of my father.
''Yes, Dad.'' I answered halfheartedly.
I can't believe my Dad. If not for my Lolo's threat, we won't really be stepping a single step here this year. Dad feels like this place would only be a place of misfortunes for me.
I doubt that, though. I feel energetic this time. It has been so long since I went here, anyway.
''Naghihintay na ang Lolo mo sa hapag, nagpahanda siya ng pagkain para sa pagdating natin.'' My soft spoken mother declared.
I excitedly went inside our mansion. And in our large dinning hall, I saw my Lolo sitting at the center of the table.
''Lolo!'' I hurriedly went to him to give him a hug and few kisses on his cheek. Humalakhak ito sa aking naging asta. ''I've missed you.''
I heard his exaggerated sigh. He has this big smile on his face.
