"You know that I'm not going to treat you any different because of your legs. You got hit by the car, not the other way around. Now get in the wheelchair."

Emerald's POV

"Who was that? He didn't seem to know about your legs." Jazz looked at me. She pushed a lock of her dirty blonde hair behind her ears.

I barely knew her, but a part of me trusted her. The woman who saved me left without a trace so Jazz was one of the only people I could talk to. "He's the one that beat me up."

"Then he deserves to know what he has done." Her voice was rough.

"I know. But I feel like that is an intimate detail of my life. Its stupid, but I think its the only secret he doesn't know." Jazz was so easy to talk to.

I sighed and spoke again, "What am I going to do when they release me?" I sat up straight.

I waited for her to suggest for me to break up with him but she didn't, though I'm sure it must have crossed her mind.

I decided to test the waters, "Jazz, what do you think would happen if I were to tell Luke I needed space?"

She bit her lip, "That depends, do you want the truth or not?" I chuckled lightly.

"The truth."

"He won't be too happy. I suggest going home with uh what's his name Michael or uh Ashton."

I smiled, "I need to talk to you more often."

She walked out, leaving the door open, just the way I liked it.

April's POV

About 5 minutes ago, I just saw my newborn sister, Mali.

I took a walk, bored of waiting when I heard a loud sound, like a slap. But who would get slapped in a hospital?

"Get out." I heard another voice scream.

I ran into the source of the violence to see a large 6 foot tall boy slapping a younger girl. She only looked about 16, though I think she is older.

He walked out and I ran, hoping I wouldn't suffer the same fate she did.

- (After Emerald's conversation with Jazz)

A nurse walked out of the room, allowing me just enough time to go inside.

I stood patiently until she noticed me. Her deeply tanned skin was covered with bright white tape. The one around her head was soaked in blood and the other ones were dripping. I immediately regretted bothering her.

"Hi," she spoke in a soft tone, nothing like the voice minutes ago.

Emerald's POV

I was so damn frustrated. I was annoyed at Calum for hurting me, Luke for not apologizing and most of all at my legs for not moving.

A girl, about 12 came inside my room.

"Hi," I hoped she didn't see Luke slap me. Its hard to forget seeing things like that.

She smiled at me. I could tell she had questions on her mind but was afraid to ask.

"Come, sit down. I can tell there is something on your mind." Why was she in a hospital anyway?
