"Now love, can you tell me what happened?" Lucius asked you softly, as you finally returned to an almost normal state.
There was no way to describe what happened without completely embarrassing yourself in the process. And the last thing you wanted to do was embarrass yourself in front of such a powerful man. But there was truthfully no other way to say it.
"Do you remember what I told you when we first met? That I had been alone and come from the war?" you spoke quietly, eyes cast downward. You still sat in his lap, his arms wrapped around you tightly.
"Yes dear, I do."
"The sound, how loud you were when you came in. It startled me, and all I could think about was the sound of the death eaters storming into Hogwarts," you admitted, terrified of his reaction considering he used to be a death eater himself.
He didn't say anything at first, just quietly let out a,"hmph" in response.
"I don't know how to describe it, my mind was just sent back to that place and how terrified I was," you continued, feeling safe enough to tell him the truth. "I killed people Lucius. And it's consuming me, the memories of it all."
Lucius was taken aback by that confession. The thought of you, his sweet, innocent girl having to defend yourself against those disgusting people that overtook his home. How foul those men were, the thought of them even looking at you, let alone trying to take you as their own.
He was about to enter a rage unlike anything ever before. The possibility alone of what could have happened to you was too vile for him to even want to continue thinking about. You could have been dead, you could have been tortured, or who knows what else.
If, of course, you hadn't ended up with him.
The fact that you had to kill anyone at all, made him see red. Those wizards repulsed him thoroughly, even more so knowing what they made you do. He would seek out every last one of them if he had to, ensuring they would die a slow death.
Your poor tender mind, being tainted with those horrendous thoughts made Lucius' demeanor completely soften. He understood now why you had been so withdrawn when entering the manor, perhaps why you had even formed the connection with Draco initially.
But he was here now and would never let anything happen to you again.
"I'm so sorry, darling. I wish you'd never been put in that position," he said honestly, hands intertwined as he stroked your thumb. "I didn't mean to frighten you, I hope you understand that. It's just the goddamn elf-"
"Lucius, don't. Please, Alfie is my friend. He has ensured I have everything I need here at the manor, he is a good elf. He didn't do anything wrong," you begged of him, hoping that Lucius would not hurt the poor elf. You hadn't even gotten the chance to hear what Alfie wanted to tell you yet.
Lucius sighed deeply. He wanted to throw the elf out for good and do unspeakable things but, could see how much that would upset you. If the pathetic little elf was your friend, he supposed he could try to withstand it. As long as he made it clear to the elf that he must continue spying on you and report back to him on anything he found out. Nothing would slip past Lucius.
"Alright, I won't do anything. If that is what you ask, then I'll do my best to tolerate him."
You turned your head up to him and kissed his jawline softly, squeezing his hand in your own. "Thank you."
Lucius was shocked by your rather forward affection but was truly overjoyed that you had chosen to be that way with him. It sparked a fire in Lucius that he didn't even believe was still possible. He foolishly started to hope that if you had eased your way into a relationship with him this easily, perhaps you could ease into the idea that Voldemort was not reigning or even alive at all. The same going for any of the lies he had told...
