"Come on sleepy head! Get your ass up!"
"Moira... Seriously..." I mumbled as I hear my bestfriend's loud voice.
"What? We're supposed to go to the beach today!" Moira exclaimed.
"Ugh! Jesus Christ!" I took a pillow and covered my head. "Go away! I'm still sleepy!" Moira pulled my blanket off of me. "Hey!" I scowl at her.
"Jill, you need this okay? We've talked about this. Darlene and Savannah are waiting downstairs." She says to me, hands on her hips. She looks like my mom when she's scolding me.
I lie down again and closed my eyes. "I don't feel like going out." I hear her let out a heavy sigh. Afterwards I felt her sit at the end of my bed.
"Jill, you promised."
I didn't speak.
"Jill, c'mon.. It's not the end of the world. How can you forget him if you're being like this?"
My breathing hardened all of a sudden as the painful memory of the recent break up I had with Gabe enters my mind again. Gabe. He was my boyfriend for three years. He used to be my everything. And now he's gone.
"He left me, Moira.. He left me for another girl.." A tear slid across my cheek. "How can he do that to me.."
Moira sighed exasperatedly. "God, Jill! Gabe is an asshole! You caught him cheating! I mean look at you! I understand you're devastated about what happened but you're only letting him destroy you more by being like this!"
What she said somehow made me snap out of it. She's right. It's been two weeks since Gabe and I broke up and yet I'm still sorry for myself. Not eating that much, not sleeping that much, not talking to anyone.. Hypocrite that everything could still be fixed and that he'll come back to me. That he'll say sorry and promise that he'll never cheat on me again. It was so delusional of me.
I wipe my tears and sat up straight. I only have my pride. I will never let him take that away from me. I suddenly thought that this has gone too far and that I had enough. The thought of him happy with that bitch he replaced me with made my blood boil now.
"Yeah you're right. This has to end. I'm stronger than this." I tell my bestfriend and tried to look strong. I admit I'm still weak, but this will be a good start for me to move on.
Moira smiles at me. "I know you are." I hug her tight. It feels so good knowing that my friends are here for me.
I took a quick shower and wore a yellow bikini under a white hanging blouse and frayed shorts. Once I'm done and all the stuff I need are in my backpack I grabbed my car keys and went downstairs with Moira. There I saw Darlene and Savannah and the two hugged me at the same time.
"Glad to see you come out of your cave." Savannah tells me with a smile.
"We're gonna have fun." Darlene added assuringly.
The four of us left after we said goodbye to my parents. It took us two hours before we arrived at the beach.
I parked my car near a hotel and we got off. There are other establishments there as well. Aside from mini hotels there's also souvenir shops, restaurants, tattoo parlors and stuff. Boracay is one of the attractive beaches in our country. It's a good thing it's not far from home.
We found a spot and spread down our towels and sat for awhile as we apply sunblock on our skin. It's nine o'oclock in the morning and the beach is filled with people. Mostly tourists.
"Come on let's swim!" Darlene tells us with excitement. Moira and Savannah replied yes in chorus and the three of them looked at me.
"You guys go ahead. I'll join you in a few minutes." I tell them.
