I sat there with my mouth hanging open. "You what?!!" I stared at Slade in horror hoping that I had heard him wrong. "Quiet El, the grown-ups are talking." He smirked at me. I sent a scowl to Slade and turned my attention to my parents. Cindy's face lit up and without a moments thought said. "I think that's a brilliant idea!" My dad on the other hand looked as if he was in shock. "Can you repeat that for me?" Slade pulled me closer to him so my back was against his chest. "I will personally pay for your debts and will get you out of bother with my gang if, and only if, you let Adele come with me and for her to be mine. It is likely that you will never see your daughter again, but be sure she'll be safe with me." My dad looked uneasy. His eyes kept darting between my stunned, Slade's serious and Cindy's gleeful expressions. As his eyes landed on me I ran to his side and grabbed his hand.

"Daddy please don't. Look I'll help you find the money, just don't trade me in like this. I'll find you the money, then I'll get out of yours and Cindy's lives forever. I know I'm an issue but don't give me away like this." My dads eyes were full of indecision and guilt. For a second I thought I had my real dad back who would take me in his arms and say he'd never let me go. But my hope was short lived as he turned to Cindy who shook her head then back to Slade and said "Deal."

My breath hitched in my throat as I pushed myself away from the monster in the chair. I got up and hid my face against the wall. I felt my eyes cloud over but I blinked the tears away. I hardened my face before turning round and facing everyone. I looked my dad in the eyes and tried to let all the hatred and hurt pour into his soul. Instead it just stayed inside of me brewing on the surface darkening my soul. "Fine." I said. Slade opened his mouth to say something when his phone started ringing. "Excuse me." He got up and walked out of the room. I stole his seat on the sofa and looked down and my clenched fists. "I suppose we better get you packed. No point in hanging around." A wicked smile appeared on Cindy's skinny lips. "It's not like anyone wants you here anyway." I clenched my jaw tighter and I was sure my teeth would shatter.

Slade came through the door and looked at the twins. "We need to leave now some business has come up." I looked at Slade. "But don't I need to pack first." He came over and kissed my forehead. "I'll be back to pick you up at 10:30 tomorrow morning." He turned to the twins. "Go and wait in the car, I'll be out in a minute." He tried to pull me up but when I resisted he picked me up bridal style. "What do you think you're doing?!" I hissed at him. He simply smirked at me. We reached the top of the stairs and he kicked my bedroom door open and laid me down on my bed. "I'll pick you up tomorrow princess." He turned as if to go. "No. You shan't. You actually think that I'm going to sit here waiting for you to take me to a life of crime and danger. No thank you."

Before I could register what was happening my arms were pinned above my head. "Make no mistake of this Adele, I do still care for you but I'm not the same person I was. I have done things that would make most people faint from fear. Now you have to understand that you are mine. I'm helping you get out of this hell hole. I thought you would be at least a bit grateful. I'm sorry I left all those years ago. But you will be here tomorrow for me to pick up or someone will pay. Understood?" Trembling I nodded my head. He sighed and released my arms. He lent down and kissed the corner of my mouth. "Don't worry. I'm going to look after you now." Then he was gone.

I shook my head trying to get rid of the surprise that had just taken over me. "Like heck I'm sticking around for that." I grabbed the travel bag from the top of my wardrobe and started shoving all my clothes in. I carefully put my complete set of the Harry Potter books in the case. They had been my mothers before she died and she passed them down to me. It was our thing to do together. Since I was about 6 my mum had read them to me almost every night. We finished the last book about a week before she died, although I had to read it towards the end as she lost her voice. I always read the books to feel closer her.

When I had finished putting all the clothes in I picked up the picture frame from the desk. It held two pictures in it. The first picture was of Slade myself and our mums. Slade was in the middle of our mums with me on his lap. I was looking up at him with such love and affection. Little did I know back then, that he would become a stranger to me. The second picture was a family photo of Harrie, our parents and I. I touched my mums smiling face. "I'm getting out of here mum, I'm getting out tonight!" I let a small smile out at the thought. "I don't think you are Adele." I turned around to see the makeup caked face of my abuser.
