A/N It's a long time coming, so here we go .....***
A loud growl filled the room. I rubbed my stomach comfortingly. Food was what I needed. I couldn't remember the last time I ate and my throat was dry from thirst. Opening the door I went in search of the kitchen. As soon as I stepped onto the landing I smelt bacon. Following my nose in a sort of hunger induced trance, I made my way down the stairs and turned right. Through a door way I spotted Slade cooking. It looked delicious (Slade and the bacon). Dribbling I shuffled my way over to the breakfast stools at the island and plonked myself down. "Hungry?" He sniggered. "Starving" I replied sheepishly. "One bacon sandwich on the way." I hid the grin on my face.
"Slade, your dad said..." I turned to see where the voice was coming from. There was a boy younger than I was. I scanned his face. Those grass green eyes seemed familiar and then I realised. It was the boy that tried to mug me! "You!" I screamed. With his mouth gaping he just stared. "You know Danny?" Slade looked between my face which was filled with rage and 'Danny's' who had the expression of a rabbit in headlights. I turned to face Slade. "You could say that. Danny over here had the displeasure of trying to mug me whilst I was really pissed off!"
Danny finally getting over the shock that I was here, started making his was towards me apologising to Slade as he went. "I'm really sorry I didn't know you knew her, if I'd known..." Standing up I took a step towards him. "Take one more step and I will kick you in that place again, but this time I'll make sure your balls go back into your body permanently!"
I felt pretty badass, standing up for myself, not letting anyone push me around.
That was until my legs started wobbling and all I could do was grab the chair beside me to stop falling to the floor. "Woah there tiger" Slade pulled me back into my chair. "I don't think you'll be kicking anyone today." He turned to Danny. "She was the big guy that jumped you huh" Danny's face turned pink. Slade sighed. "We all make mistakes at the beginning so don't worry about it. But I think you and I better have a chat about who we mug... And maybe some self defence?" He smirked. "What did my dad want?" Danny laughed nervously. "Oh he just said he wanted you on a job with him, he said to meet him by the cars at 8." Slade nodded and went back to cooking my bacon. As Danny left earshot, I turned and hissed at Slade. "'Don't worry about it' the boy tried mugged me!"
"And it seems like he got the worst end of the bargain, don't take it personally." I huffed and leaned back in my chair. After a short silence only filled with the hissing and spitting of hot oil coming from the pan Slade placed a sandwich in front of me.Still sulking I picked up one half and bit into it. A smile slowly creeped onto my face. "You remembered."
"Of course, you like you're bacon sandwiches with ketchup just like me. In fact you put ketchup on everything. I remember one summer when we had a barbecue. You, me and our parents and we ran out of burgers and you were still hungry so you buttered a bun and filled it with ketchup. I've never seen you look so happy." I giggled, my reason for being mad floating away as all these memories flooded my brain. After finishing my sandwich I licked my lips. "Thank you" I smiled. "What do you wanna do now?" Slade looked at his watch. "I suppose I have some time, we could watch to or a movie or play some video games or something" My eyes lit up. " Video games" I wasn't a gamer girl, I wasn't very good but I loved to try and fail.
"Let's go" He pulled me towards him. I hissed as pain shot down my side. He looked back at me concerned. "How about we have someone see to that." I nodded my head. Carefully getting up I followed him. "Are we going to the doctors?" I asked. He shook his head. "I'll have one of our people look at it." I screwed up my face unsure. "Look he's really good, he saved my life when I got stabbed." My eyes widened and he just walked of gesturing me to follow him. I guess we have a lot of catching up to do.A/N
